Cam Girl Addiction: From Financially Savvy to Buried in Debt

Man read your story and it almost triggered me and gave me some low-level anxiety, I can resonate in terms of where you were and it's honestly shocking to see that something like this could happen. I see you man, I understand how tough it must feel.

I have struggled with addiction myself (though never paying, except for 10$ credits every few weeks or months).

I think what you are honestly missing is seeing through what this really is, which is a waste of time.

To understand more why porn and things related to it DON'T PRESENT ANY ACTUAL VALUE to you I can suggest a method and book which is taken from a very popular method in the quitting-smoking world.

I've read both the original book ("The easy way to quit smoking") and that remade version for porn users. This stuff seems to actually work. And best thing... it's free.

Also, see some interviews & confessions of cam models, prostitutes etc to see through the lies and emotional-cheapness / fake-ness of cam models.

Man, if this fails go have some psychedelic (shroom, Aya) trip and/or see a therapist. If you have a medical insurance, you might be able to get the therapist for free.

Finally, I feel bad for your girlfriend at the time. She didn't deserve to waste her time in such a way, and you owe it to her and your future partners to get your mind straight about this shit. Stop the crap.

thanks for sharing mate, dont give up, have you ever tried qigong? I have that has help immensely over the years as it keep me grounded. Ever time you masturbate you become more yang (heat) and depleted of yin (cool/feminine) and thus it makes it easier to relapse again. Qigong help build the yin element and keep you cool so can move on to other things.

Hi brother, hope you're staying strong.

I want to commend you for your openness and your honesty. There are so many men in the world who lack this ability of self-expression and introspection but you are transparent and stand face-to-face with all your problems. Now you just have to defeat this enemy that has been teasing and tormenting you all these years. This openness is a double-edged sword because transparency can aid your self-knowledge but also leave you vulnerable to pathos, or emotion, whereas you need more order, plans and stability, which requires thicker skin and better strategies. Aim for structure, a reliable method and foundations, and you can work up from there.

Your camgirl addiction far surpasses my own, but if I continued on my current path, I would be exactly where you are in a few years. Yours is a cautionary tale, and I mean that in the optimistic sense, that you are warning other men to never go down this way through your example.

I have created and deleted accounts on camgirl websites 3 or 4 times in the past couple years, despite leaving these long, moralistic messages in the "why did you quit" text box each time. The quitting part becomes addictive in itself, we have to be very mindful of these things.

Personally, I would recommend to engage in prayer. God is always with us, no matter what and He loves us more than you could ever imagine.

It is true that we become filthy and create a stench within our souls when we engage in these sinful practices, but He will always love us, no matter what, more than any other person possibly could. Just uttering His name out loud, "O Lord Jesus Christ" - this can have a very healing effect on the soul. Call out to Him more often and He will respond with love and grace.

Christ forgave the most depraved, despised human beings - prostitutes, tax collectors, thieves, murderers etc. The angels rejoice when a sinner repents of their passions, renounces the devil and turns toward God, infinitely more than if a faithful person does a good deed. It is all relative and based on context, God is very merciful and kind. He will reward us relative to our struggles.

God bless you, and I hope you find a way out of this pattern of sinful behaviours. I'm struggling too but I will pray for you.

If you need anything, reach out.

I feel like at this point you should let someone close in your family manage your finances and should be made aware of cam girl addiction.

Honestly, Cam girls aren't even that much pretty. Your addiction and your battle is with your brain.
At this point of time, you went for something fake and as you said you felt like a prisoner.

I would say to find someone for yourself (and definitely not through dating apps because they too are fake). I would suggest approach that woman whom you've already known and always thought that she's smart but you never even really thought about it. Approach her in a way to let her know who you really are and not in a way as to just to help yourself. It sounds wrong. But you need to give it a shot.

There is something in this thread that catches my attention and I appreciate answers if you want to answer me:

I have never in my life paid for any type of pornographic material with any form of money.

Why pay with money for something that is currently completely free on the internet?

In fact, I remember that on the free access pages they uploaded videos of camgirls. I always watched them completely free.

My question is:

Why in the world of free porn do men and women pay to watch?

Some answer ?

Because by exchanging money for these camgirls you get custom content, they focus on you exclusively in some cases, and it elevates one's status (although this is an illusory feeling). There's a certain thrill involved in throwing money away like this, like with gambling addictions. It's the same buzz one gets from paying a prostitute to perform sex acts, no different really, but they are behind a screen instead of being in the room.

I know what you are trying to say here, "what's the point when you can do it for free? isn't this more economical? etc." but free porn can lose it's edge when you start actually paying for something that provides customised, one-on-one sexual interaction - this is way more exciting but it comes with a significant cost and it can develop into a very damaging habit - as this thread goes to show. I've struggled with similar issues recently and I'm now educating myself on the destructiveness of these behaviours and how I can change.

Always remember too, that even if porn is "free", you might not see an impact on your wallet but instead you pay with your soul.

Okay. Thanks for the reply.

The truth is that I would never in my life pay to watch.

The only way, in which I would pay to watch, is if that webcam girl accepts me in a relationship in person to meet her personally. I think it would be worth it there and it would be a great opportunity to be the boyfriend of a girl who works in that field. Otherwise, I would never pay just to watch.

Remember that this forum is not a religious forum my dear friend. Ideally, we maintain a discourse of another type here where this type of discourse is not involved.

I make it clear that I am a believer and a great devotee of God. I love God, but ideally the idea is to keep religious discourse out of the forum.

@FittyBands

I came across a fantastic resource this evening and thought of you:

It is called the Recovery Workshop. It is a self-led workshop with an option to purchase additional coaching to help with motivation. Considering how much money you have already invested into this addiction, just a fraction of the total amount you have used on these cam girls could be put toward eliminating this addiction once and for all.

Also, just remembered while writing this about another inspirational guy I follow, called Timothy Reigle, a former porn and sex addict who offers one on one coaching, his own e-book and tailored support to help you reach your goals of a porn-free life:

A question:

It is very common in the United States and Europe to talk about all these things: trainers, porn addiction counselors, writers, specialists in this topic, recovery spaces, books etc...

Here in my country the subject is practically non-existent (I am referring to the subject of pornography and its alleged problems)

Why ?

Perhaps this is a problem that is affecting the population of the United States and not us Latinos at all?

why here in my country there is not a single recovery program for a type of addiction like this?

In fact, for therapists here in my country, porn addiction is almost non-existent?

Why ?

The topic definitely has not been talked about enough. I think there are two reasons.
First is that it was really a shame to confess to have a porn addiction although it is really common.
Second is that both related websites and drug companies have lots of incentives and money to not let this topic popular. Just like the concept that suger is harmful to our health is recently known to us but it long existed.

To be honest, I messed up a lot in this last month, wasting over $1000. I am in a rough financial spot and I am just making it through. Thank you for holding me accountable and for the resources and the support. Trust me when I say I use them, but my issue is being consistent. I am going to make it through. It's a challenge and a journey.

Have you considered joining a group like Sexaholics Anonymous? Perhaps you can find some support groups either face-to-face or over phone/video call that could help you on this journey, besides this forum:

I think this forum is good but only as a supplementary aid. For more severe cases, you need further intervention. I hope you find this resource helpful. It seems to have an international reach so hopefully you'll be able to find a group near you, wherever you are.

I just found out today that I am having a child...and then two seconds later I found out that the person is having a miscarriage...so my first child has passed prematurely. I have no desires to do anything rn. I guess this was a wake up call.
