So far, I haven't met any others here who are struggling with erotica addiction. Anyone else in that boat?

Remember that this is about the reprogramming of our Dopamine receptors in sexual stimulus. Erotica is a very powerful stimulus because, unlike visual porn, everyone in the story is perfect through the eyes of your addiction.
I found that as my addiction has progressed over the years, my ability to fantasize without the erotica decreased while my search for more "interesting" (read extreme) stories increased. I eventually found myself reading stories about situations that previously would have repulsed me. Suddenly (in actuality over time but I didn't recognize it) I was craving stuff way out of my wheel house because it was the only material that would excite me and get the Dopamine flowing.
Hope this helps,
