Why is this so difficult?

I am on day 5 of yet another attempt to quit. Already I feel I am going crazy, my head is beating and there are constant aches.

Survive it.
If you are really, really bad try and take some strong painkillers. But be carefull, don't overdose, and don't take them like vitamines - couple days in a row. They can really mess with you concentration and perception.

The reason why its so difficult is because this is a spiritual battle and you can never overcome with your physical strength or efforts. if you continue to think u can fight this physically then you will always be exhausted and you will keep relapsing.

The brain is a powerful thing. And right now it's your enemy.

It wants to have the porn back, the endless shots of dopamine, the 'good old times'.

I remember my first 20 days (hence I am a bit scared to relapse, I know how strong the urges will become then). In my opinion these were the worst days. But it depends on how you 'fight' it.
What worked for me was to stop fighting it. The more I fight these urges, the more I was thinking about it. It felt I was feeding the urges until I just had to find some distraction before my head exploded. So I suggest you try that when everything just gets too much.

Go to the store, go workout. Find a new hobby to do whenever the urges come. Take a cold shower. Go for a bike ride or car ride.

My urges always came when I was home alone, watching TV or sitting behind the PC etc. The thing I used most was going to the store. Just walking there, enjoying the weather, buy some crap I probably don't need, but at least my mind came to rest. And the urges don't take all day, mostly it's for several moments.. unless you keep fighting it and thinking about it.

Get distracted, and it's be easier.

Good luck man. Things will only get easier the longer you refuse to give in.
