Hey good to hear from you again.
Its shitty, that the professor did not let you pass. In the end you unfortunately cant change the situation. Try to figure out, why the professor did not let you pass this time, so you can make sure, that it wont happen again.

Hey anon, yeah, same here, things got quiet a bit out of hand. What can i say... It doesnt help to loose oneself in regrets and shame about the lost opportunities. We have got to look into the future. Maybe those relapses are exactly the wake up call we needed to remind ourself, that we are still vulnerable to P and that there are real consequenses for using it. I admit, in my mind it was difficult to stop using, but i could not remember it being so damn difficult. But i think there is also a lot of truth to what you said:

I know it’s something I can do. It’s just the initial period after those crazy relapses where you just feel like the world has ended and there is no hope.

All that said, i am happy, that you are still doing relatively well for yourself. This P thing is a flaw you can get a grip on and then life is looking good for you.
Good luck the next days, we can definitely do it.

My dear friend Anon! it's been ages since the last time I messaged you, and I just read your reply to my last post, thank you so much for your empathy, I am very happy to know that you are getting your PhD, congratulations, keep working hard, you should be very proud of yourself!

One day at the time =)

Thank you once again for your kind words, after these few horrible years, it was very heartwarming to come back and see that you still remember me.

Yeah. The "dog shit" days are the worst. But if we push through them it does get easier after! There is light at the end of the tunnel! Keep it up!

Sorry to hear this man. It's too easy to get stuck in a cycle of discouragement, anxiety and procrastination, I've been there. My advice would be to just do what you can do for today, and don't get stuck thinking about streaks, and previous failures.

Hope your day goes better and you're able to cross one task of the list. Rooting for you!

Your willingness to consider your issues is very courageous. Often when we clean up an issue, those around us begin to clean up theirs too. Good luck.

One day at a time. It will get easier as your brain returns to healthier balance. Exercise, meditation and socializing IRL are all very helpful. GL!

Maybe don't set rigid, difficult goals, as they just give you permission to fail...and relapse. One day at a time. GL!

Sorry things are so challenging at home. It's hard to believe that someone would deliberately sabotage a mate's self-improvement goals, but....

As you stick to your goals and stop sabotaging them, see if he stops too. It would be an interesting experiment.
