PIED, best thing that happened to me??

Here are some things i did to avoid PMO'ing (may not apply to everyone):
1) Deleted my Instagram and twitter account, it was my primary cause of relapsing over and over again. Dont be afraid to delete your
social media accounts because all you will be missing out on is gossip and pop culture trends.
2) blocked web browser on my phone because all i used it for was P.
3) Blocked all P and adult sites on my laptop's web browser as well.
4) Stopped using youtube (another one of my triggers).

Planning to be strict with myself till I develop some discipline. And it worked. I consciously stayed away from P in spite of accidentally coming across it today. I would say that PIED is best thing that happened to me, because I always thought of myself as a weak person, someone who wouldn't do anything out of his comfort zone, someone who is indecisive and someone who cant take control of his life. But with this decision of quitting porn I think i am changing myself and on the way of becoming the best version of myself. and I already see some improvement. PIED and quitting porn has already taught me a lot about myself. It taught me how my choices defines me as a person and that new and better choices will make me a new and improved person. I feel like i am Tyler Durden.

few of my favorite Tyler durden quotes:
1)Only after disaster can we be resurrected. It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. Nothing is static, everything is evolving, everything is falling apart.

2)You decide your own level of involvement.

3) fights will go on as long as they have to. if this is your first time at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Good job bro...

Keep your gloves on, the fight will get intense as you progress in. I had virtually no temptation for the first 35 days...then, it started hitting me with a vengeance. Almost like a last gasp of air trying to reach for my ankle and drag me back in.

Great for you to recognize your triggers.

Keep the posts coming. I would also suggest taking up new hobbies. I'm doing the 100 push ups a day and 100 squats...at 6'4" and 280 lbs...that's a lot of weight to move. But here's the great part about it. It's time I would have used for other things...now I'm being productive.

And just remember, give yourself some short and long term goals, and reach them 1 day at a time.

hey Rookie,
Thanks for the advice, will follow it.

Yes even I have started working out 6 days a week now and started eating clean and healthy food. Finished reading a book and thinking of enrolling in an online course.

what do you mean by short and long term goals??

Short term goals -
Make it to day 35
Day 40
45....
100 push ups today
100 squats today,
tomorrow, day after and after and after 100 per day
Read 1 - 10 pages per day in a book
In short, short term goals are usually reached within 1 week, 1 months - 3 months..

Long term goals
120 days free
150 days free
200 push ups per day
200 squats per day
Finish the book
Long term goals are usually things you want to achieve after 90 days.

The reason for the difference, you most likely won't reach your 90 day goals in the first week. I don't know many people that can do 200 push ups in 1 day. But almost EVERYONE I know can do at least 1...even one guy on this board finally achieved a couple.
But you work at it consistently, for a while, your 90 days finally become your short term goals, and you set new long term goals .

Best example, walking 1 mile would be a long term goal, but achieved through short term goals of taking steps and walking. Each step would be a short term goal, once you achieve enough of these, you have achieved your long term goal.

PS - I only put down a streak of 35 days cause you posted 32 days...otherwise, I would have said, get past the first day, then get the second, then third....)

How many days did you accomplish?

Don't shoot yourself down, pick back up and start with another step. You didn't fall down the entire mountain.

I was thinking to myself, being 2 days short of 50 without PMO...while I like the streak, if I do fall, I will then have 2 counts I will be doing. Starting the count again, but then, count how many relapses I'll have.

I use to PMO almost daily, so that would be 365 days per year. Let's be realistic, and say 340...now haven't done anything for almost 50 days. Well, let's say I fall 5 more times from here to the end of the year...well, let's say 90 days (Jan - Mar) + 5 days the rest of the year....95 days is a huge accomplishment.

You have to change your perspective to win this fight...otherwise, you'll never win. Rocky was quoted in his movies " it's not the amount of times you get knocked down that matters, it's the amount of times you get up...knocked down 8 times, get up 9..."

Told ya I'm in your corner.  I can't fight for ya, but I can give you different angles from which to attack your opponent. Another factor you may want to keep in mind...every day, I have to tighten my own gloves as well. I'm in my own fight DAILY!!!

Some days, while I workout, I'll watch 90's dance videos for my workouts. Since I'm in my 40's...that's the music I associate with. But, when the videos are getting a little too revealing...I skip to the next.

Keep it up bro...I keep hearing that a relapse from time to time may happen. But where you have to pick up, is that when it's over, there will be shame and regret. And those are good to have, it keeps this fight in perspective on how much pull it has, and how disgusting it is at the same time.

The thing you CANNOT dwell on, is staying in that guilt and shame...move on. Even in Christianity (I'm a Christian), the entire new testament pushes on how sin is bad and evil. But since we are in human bodies, it's unfortunately inevitable...but not to dwell in it, since Christ is our refuge.

Keep posting bro...relapse or not, just make sure you fight off the craving to binge.

Hey Rookie,
Yes all ok, thanks for the thought, appreciate it. I have an exam coming up. so trying to study. I think my attention span has decreased a lot I just cant focus, I can only focus for 10 mins max. and then i need a break. Any tips I really need to study. Right now Im more worried about this than PIED.

Past few days have been easy. i had no urges. I probably think i am going through a flatline, but not worried about it.

P.S: quitting porn is not actually that difficult tho. U just need to have that moment of realization where u intensely feel that is something
is not right and u are willing to change.

Losing all hope was freedom!
I don't want to die without any scars.

Fight Club has been the most impacting movie i've ever seen. In fact when I would relapse and see my life fall apart I'd watch Fight Club and go back on track. I've read the book, have you read it? There are even a Fight Club 2 & 3 as comics!

Cool journal man, keep us updated!

hey kopp,
its day 5 today. watched YouTube for some spiritual motivation. Every time I get an urge I try to do some physical activity it can be as simple as standing up and walking around the house.

I try not to think of no PMO because then all I can think of is PMO. removed all P blockers on my laptop 2-3 weeks ago, its a game of willpower

good luck. how are u ?
