CASRD compulsive abusive sexual relational disorder

Dr. Omar Minwalla has been developing a trauma model for a few years and speaking out against the co-dependent or co-addict model that is in typical use by the psych field in general while dealing with partners/families of the sexual behavior disordered.

You might want to visit ISH (Institute for Sexual Health) to learn about the ways complex trauma brought about by acting out, continual lying, covert psychological manipulation, gaslighting, victim blaming, etc. is currently being understood. It's very akin to PTSD yet more nuanced as it pertains directly to sex addiction-induced perpetrations. The podcasts and reading are enlightening as he explains that what you experience is not just dealing with a sexual disorder in your partner, but an integrity and conduct disorder with associated dynamics of perpetration, violation and abuse.

Finally. Someone really gets it.

I would encourage anyone that needs a thorough understanding of the ins and outs of what it's like for a partner, or partners themselves that seek validation for their feelings, to review the material he presents.

My pleasure.

I hope it might help someone understand what they are feeling and why they are feeling it. Questions always seem to pop up along the line of how long does it take to get over this? It would seem the questions are a result of not understanding how deep this goes or the extent of what it impacts. A clearer understanding of the damage could help partners focus on key things that are inhibiting/affecting them, AND create awareness in the other half of the couple (with whatever form of sex addiction they are dealing with) understand the damage in their partner be they ex or current.

Good to see you, Malando.

Thanks! I've been away from the forum for a while, tending to other things, but I'll be more present from now on.

How are you getting on?

Pretty good! I've been away for a while too. Long breaks are needed from this stuff for me lol. Gotta recenter every once in a blue!

Been doing a lot of writing. Which reminds me, I had you in mind a few weeks ago. I'd love to talk to you about what I'm writing. I'll drop you a PM soon and explain.  :)

This was shared on chumplady as well.  Integrity disorder stood out to me and there wasn't anything I read that I disagreed with.

I'm so glad it's getting exposure! It really needs quite a lot of exposure. Too many damaged people not receiving the help they require right now.
