Be encouraged brothers, the game is not over, you are not defined by your slip ups but by how far you have come. in taking steps to overcome Porn, you have taken the offensive. consider these slip ups the last gasp of a dying addiction, as you continue to strangle the parasitic life out of this goddamned affliction. Death to you porn and life to us!

much love and respect,

john

Good day RN. Just checking in and reading some good stuff on here. Thankful for this site and praying for RN. Today is a new day and a new battle for us all. One that we can win. Busy work day for me and feeling good after a rough weekend. Diving deep into the book of Romans each morning as well as doing an Advent reading plan. Moving forward not looking backward.

Hey Jerry ... it's been a while and just wanted to share that I continue to see parallels in our respective journeys - "new day / new battle - but one we can win", "rough weekend but feeling good", and "moving forward not looking back" ... all resonate. Stay strong bro.

Checking in this morning and feeling good at what I believe is 5 days since the lapse. December is my favorite month. Christmas and many family birthdays including my own. Breaking it up in mini goals and not as focused on what day but my mindset going into each day. Spending my 1st 15 minutes of each day in the Bible and prayer, and going at that with an intent to listen and obey. Extremely helpful for me. Find your first 15 whatever that may be and give it a go! Have a great day RN

Well I haven't been on here or posted much since 12/2. Since then I have had some struggles with Psubs and edging which led to PMO. Not watching full fledge videos but enough to MO to the quick Psubs. So I'm calling it out as PMO. Also tons of stress from work and the holidays have been kicking in which I know become a trigger. I have also not been able to workout as much due to some recurrent back issues after a surgery in early 2021. These are all excuses and I need to get my head on straight and avoid these PSBUBs. I am using the IMPACT from Phineas.

I have really had to refocus and begin a bible study on the book of Romans. Also had a great sermon yesterday on HOPE. It really resonated as we reviewed Psalm 42 and Romans 15:13. I have been reading this in this time of struggle. "I pray that GOD, the source of Hope, will fill me completely with Joy and Peace because I trust in HIM. Then I will overflow with Confident Hope through the power of the HOLY SPIRIT."

This addiction sucks and it is unexplainable how I can journey so far and yet stumble so quickly. Recently turned 50 and just want to move on from this. Thankful for this site and praying for everyone on here! GRACE AND PEACE

You can do it, Jerry! There's so many other things to do online if, after you've limited your social media use, and need something else to do...

Look up positive videos that motivate you, or awesome subjects that interest you. But above all, keep your joy and trust that God's grace will see you through this!

People definitely waste a lot of time online, myself included. But the truth is that the Internet, like many other things, is a tool that is best to be used for when you need it. There are things you can study online, even watch videos that help you or teach you something, but people waste a lot of time with Youtube and social media. I understand because they are designed to be addictive, they know what they're doing but it's easy to fall into the trap, just like porn. Okay, you can give yourself a day during the week or whatever to waste with Youtube but it shouldn't be everyday. Of course, Youtube is starting to contain more and more triggers so that's something to think about. All the stupid thumbnails with pictures taken from Instagram... Music videos that are borderline softcore porn etc.

Sorry to hear you and I have both been struggling a lot in this wonderful month of December. I hope you can get back to where you want to be. I'm working on trying to get there myself. It's been a bad couple of weeks for me. Heading down the road of almost every day. I have the serious need to seek out porn. I hate this feeling. I hate that I let myself get here.

But, I have to march on. I'm back here. Hopefully that will help. Best wishes my friend.

Guitar great to hear from you. Yes this struggle is tough and not sure why December makes it tougher! I am dealing with this day to day and since my Monday post I have been doing good. Just taking it day by day. You do the same.. Win the hour! Win the day! and move on to the next day!

RN - Checking in this morning. Been a good and busy week. Did have some edging yesterday but repeated in my head the IMPACT from Phineas! Integrity, Mindfulness, Purposeful, Alert, Concise, Truthful! Heck I don't even get past the Integrity to realize I need to move on. Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Fellow Christian here. It is very difficult to find resources in the church. There is much shame and despite the prevalence of this addiction among men of all ages and faiths, you don't often hear folks open up about their own issues.

I was in a men's group last year and we were working through some materials about porn and addictive sexuality. Out of a dozen men there I was the only one who would admit to having a porn problem!

I found this page to be the most helpful in stopping. https://www.yourbrainonporn.com/too...m-porn-addiction/rebooting-basics-start-here/

One of the key themes there is that the path to success is not golden and straight, but is rather strewn with failures and recoveries from failure. Keep trying.

Best,
Unitary

Hoping everyone on here is gearing up for Christmas. I have had a pretty solid week and no PMO. I was tempted to use Psubs and Edge yesterday but moved on and beat the P Demon out of my head. I truly hope everyone on here has a Merry Christmas - Matthew 1:22-23! Praying for this site and thankful for the positive encouragement. Stay strong and let's keep supporting each other! We all have had our ups and downs but keep moving forward and not looking back.

RN - just checking in and journaling as it helps me. Since the last post I MOd. I realize this was caused by the Psubs and edging that have been more commonplace the last 2 months of this journey. Like everyone here it seems, I have some of the same issues--- edging, Psubs, lack of sex with wife/wife libido/wife health issues, boredom, stress, alcohol, etc....

I do feel I have come along way since this journey started but being an perfectionist I let the above drive this bad behavior. With 4 days left in the year I will continue to battle. I did look back at when I started this journey with RN on 4/13/21 (263 days) and my success rate is:
  • 96.96% success from PMO (8X)
  • 89.73% success from MO (27X)
So over the next 4 days I want to clearly define why and how I was successful during my longest streak of 112 days and build on it. MO needs to cease, Exercise needs to increase, and I need to fully understand how boredom and alcohol contribute to this behavior. I know when I travel and drink anything (2 glasses of wine etc) then it drives me to temptations and lowers my inhibitions. So as we all begin 2022 I am a person who doesn't necessarily believe in "New Years Resolutions" but I do believe in reflection and renewed focus! I pray for everyone battling and having the courage to come to RN to better themselves. This P demon is real and the journey is tough but we all are here because we want to rid our lives of it! GOD BLESS you all! Happy New Year!
