Keep setting those small goals! Think of it like saving money; put a little aside everyday, just a few coins, then see how much youve got at the end of the month.

Came back from work feeling tired even though I didn't have much work today.
Was feeling bored and some strange feeling, maybe part of withdrawal.
Watched some hot pics on instagram and twitter. Not even proper porn.
Automatically MOed, and guess what, didn't take much time to O.

Anyway it's a new day from tomorrow. Counter back to 0.

Hi Yogi

Sorry to hear about the lapse but, at the very least, you can take stock in that it was milder than it could've been and you're back on track now. Sounds like perhaps some of the old mechanisms came back in a moment where you were feeling too tired or down to control the impulse?

The post-work slump is a tricky one to deal with. I stumble on it as well. Are there some activities you could do to unwind instead of using the computer? Exercise? Meditation? Maybe even just have a nap for awhile once you get home?

The mental strain of quitting in the first month is real. Exercise is good for depression, rest & diet is good for being tired, meditation is good for all of these etc. etc. There are many ways to do this but of course this is all easier said than done right?

Keep going and stay strong. You got this Yogi and i'm looking forward to hearing some ideas on how to manage this particular scenario as it's one I deal with too.

Well, theres your trigger. fatigue from work, that always got me too. being mentally and physically exhausted your defenses go down a little and u think "fuck it, i cant feel any worse than this.." but the thing is you feel much worse after!
anyway, back to 0.
do it again.

Thanks guys for the support.

Orbiter buddy, I have indeed tried the methods you have said.
But what I'm starting to realise is- porn is not simply a stress-buster over the years; my brain has actually associated it with unwinding. Put in another way, my brain has associated relaxation and entertainment with porn!

This is what I have to work on unlearning. But the attractions are so powerful. I have online classes/ lectures to attend. And after those, my brain seeks out entertainment aka porn! The autopilot hits and before I know it, even simple Facebook or Insta posts are enough to snare me in that instant!

Anyway, I have to keep the struggle going. No other way.

Hi yogi,

Sounds like your autopilot needs reprogramming! Think of new ways of unwinding. Make a list. Then put that list right above your screen, and after a lecture/class, look up on that list and select one of the things (if it doesn't work, go back and select another). Here are some ideas:

- go for a walk
- read an entertaining book, something easy
- meet up with a friend for coffee/beer/dinner/whatever
- play a video game (if you're into that sort of thing)
- watch a film or series (start a series, I can recommend The X-Files)
- sit back and listen to music (it's possible to enjoy music just for its own sake)
- learn to play an instrument
- play board games (online chess?)

And many more I'm sure you can easily imagine. I think the point to remember is that it's better to do some stupid things if you're just looking to unwind and relax than do the stupidest thing, which is to PMO. We don't need to instantly become the Mozart of habit, we can enjoy some silly stuff and not relapse.

Keep developing yourself yogi!

Thanks for the suggestions Wolfman.
Will try out some of that, online chess is something that never crossed my mind. Will try that out!

Day 3 today

No MO. Watched some instagram hot pics, but managed to bring myself back to reality and turned it off.
Planning to do better tomorrow.

Great Yogi , watching porn substitutes is very risky, take extra care for next 2-3 days.
Its a red flag sign for me. I usually relapse next day of such behaviour.
stay strong

The autopilot hits and before I know it...

Hi Yogi,

This simple statement says a lot, really. This is why we have to change the habits that surround the unwanted habit, for when our mind goes into autopilot, what we can also call mindlessness.

This addiction is such that we can't afford to be mindless. We need to know our 'high-risk' situations (for you, after work). We need to, not be mindless, but mindful.

Practice mindfulness, meditation, or deep breathing exercises to get through high-risk moments. Stay aware, stay in the moment. And work on changing things up that will throw you off your mindless habits. Even changing the computer to the other side of the room will help you snap, or implementing some small changes for when you get home from work...

You can do this!

Thanks Phineas
Yes I am doing meditation and mindfulness practice.
It does help a lot. It has helped before, but somehow I was not able to make it a consistent practice of daily life.
Now I am trying to make it a part of my daily routine and already seeing positive results.

Day 5 today. no PMO. Got a lot of study done.

My exams are coming up next month.
Wish me luck guys!
