90 days in to my reboot.

Hi guys,
So where do I start? Just joined tonight.
I am 38 years old and discovered porn when I was about 14. Just magazines back then. I moved on to videos over the next few years. When I was 18 I went to Uni and discovered the Internet. Here I was downloading some pretty hard core stuff on the p2p. I finally lost my virginity at 18 but getting it up was a struggle. I put it down to alcohol. Not long after I got with a girl and had amazing sex for 1.5 year. All this time I was PMO at least three times a day and probably having the same amount of sex with her. I had no ED then. When we split up I was dry for 1.5 years. Still PMO at least 3 times a day maybe more. When I finally got laid again it was a struggle getting it up. I found getting it up was always a struggle with new partners but it improved over time spent with them. I am guessing it was taking me time to rewire after long dry spells and lots of porn.
Sometimes one night stands just ended in embarrassment. Years went on with PMO three times a day and the content got harder and harder. High speed porn got in to my life about then. I became more ashamed of what I was watching. I found reboot nation about six years ago and tried a reboot then. I lasted about three months and kinder forgot about it. I was with a girl for about 5 years and I was becoming less and less interested in her. Still PMO 3 times a day. The last 1.5 years of the relationship we never had sex. I was more interested in the screen. That ended and I went a streak of nearly 2 years without sex. Then I started to notice ED was getting. I finally got laid only with the help of viagra. That was the only thing that worked. This was just a one night stand. I had another dry spell and then covid hit or the wank year as I like to call it. In 2021 I started to think about reboot nation again as my ED was getting bad. I could only get it up with porn. Long gone were the days of having a wank in the shower.

So about 90 days ago I decided to reboot. One month in I had another one night stand. I thought I would test myself and nothing worked. I took three viagra and just manged to have sex but it was a struggle. My ED was the worst it had ever been. That sent me back in to a flatline. I am still in a long flatline but I am seeing some improvements. At first I felt Asexual, just not interested in girls. As Gabe would say 'a limp noodle'. No morning wood, nothing. I think things are starting to improve now. I get morning wood about 4-5 times a week now. Mostly about 80% but on the odd occasion a wopping stronker. I really have to fight it hard not to wack one off. I had a wet dream last week. The first in probably 10 years and probably my 3rd ever. So that is where I am. There is slow progress. Something is happening but I am not sure what. I did go and have a massage about three weeks ago. Not a dirty one just a regular massage. I thought it might help with the rewiring. I think it did help, I felt great after. I am also considering seeing a sex worker and explaining my condition and asking for some sex therapy. Perhaps am erotic massage. I don't think sex would work, not without the blue pill. I want my dick back without taking those things. I really want to speed up this process. It would be easier if I had a GF to help rewire but I don't.

So 20 years of wanking and I am now Mr Floppy. Only if I knew then I would never have watched porn. My dream is to find a girl settle down and start a family. I need a working dick for that and I am determined to do it.

Congrats on deciding to take control of your future. 90 days is a major milestone, but for us 30+ year olds who have PMOd for at least half our life, it takes some serious time, and I mean 6 months at the very least, possibly close to a year to notice major improvement. 90 days for signs of recovery is now simply a myth. Don’t let long flatlines scare you. I am approaching day 170 of no PMO and Md three times early in my Reboot. I am just now at the point where I can sluggishly get an erection and can have sex without ED medication, but an O gives me a flatline feeling for severe days still. Around day 140 was when the flatline actually felt like it had begun to subside, and I had sex without any aid. That was a major milestone for me, and you are gonna get there too. Just remember, hardmode for life, unless with a partner.

one of the things I like to share with all new posters or people who I see are starting to get miles into their reboot is a post I found on YourBrainOnPorn - it emphasizes the mental and emotional changes that happen during your middle and late stages of your reboot. Rebooting does not mean abstinence, a real reboot means replacing negative outlooks and habits with new, healthy belief systems about your own personal life and sex in general. Read through this, and good luck on your reboot king. Just remember, hard more for life.

Hi bud, I am really grateful for your reply. I was starting to think that no one was reading my post.
I have found that my ED had been at its worst over the past two years. This is one of the longest spells without sex. I feel my brain has really wired to the screen. Infact I have had sex twice in four years. So about a month ago I managed to get laid and I found that the pills didn't really work. I took three viagra in the end over the course of the night and it just worked on the last one. That scared me the most as they have worked in the past. When I checked the date on them the next day I noted that they were three years out of date. Just shows you how often I used them. Do you think that the pills didn't work because of that or that my ED has got that bad?
I found giving up porn easy. If I have a good reason then its not a problem. PIED was more than a good reason for me. After that night of sex I hit the flatline again. It seemed to set me back.
I will give your article a read later. Thanks.

Yea definitely read the article, it’s going to put a lot of things in perspective that I think are absolutely crucial to moving forward in recovery from PMO and PIED in general.

Now to answer your question, there is probably a good chance that the effectiveness of the pills was reduced due to expiration, but for the sake of this thought experiment it’s safest for you to assume that they did not work simply due to desensitized dopamine pathways in your brain, which is exactly what happens to heavy PMO users. Also, when you take ED meds and don’t notice any movement down there, it increases the production of specific stress hormones in your body, which then continue to shut down your bodies ability to reach a state of arousal.

what I think most likely happened is that after you took the third pill, you either calmed down enough or focused on your situation enough in front of you that your bodies weakened dopamine pathways finally fired strong enough in your brain, and the medication picked up on these signals and increased blood flow to your dick. Simple as that.

Flatlines are the worst, but it’s completely natural to expect them to happen the first few times as your brain adjusts to only getting sexual stimulation and releases from real world physical contact, hence why I say hard mode for life. At some point it’s ok to fantasize, but until you feel your flatline weaken I would refrain from fantasy as well.

reach out if you have any other questions man, we are gonna get through it together.

PS - definitely read that article haha
