I crave drinking like crazy. :(

You know what some folks do? It's called ERP (Exposure Response Prevention), and the idea is that you do what surrounds the urges without responding or giving in to them. This helps deaden the neural pathways that encourage the unwanted behavior.

For drinking, one would get a shot glass fill it with gingerale (or whatever non-alcoholic drink you prefer), and just go through the motions.

Believe it or not, this takes the edge off of the urges, and shows that you're in control and not a substance.

Wishing you well, Escape!

Day 9

It is around this time that it gets really difficult and I get closer to a relapse. I usually relapse here or resist for a few days and relapse. On rare occasions, I get to 18 days or so. This is the truth. I wish it won't happen though.

The wave always breaks. Set the direction and sail true. You will be amazed what you can do. Assert sovereignty. You are a free man and you have the right to claim sovereignty and be free in your mind. free in your being. Ride the wave and come out renewed at the other end.

Here be careful of such thoughts, because they are not necessarily true. If we tell ourselves, "8 days is my wall, I usually fall at this time.", that might have been true before, but you've also gone beyond 9 days.

I've tended to think similar to this. How did I get passed it? I think instead, "If I can make it 1 day, I can make it 1 week. If I can make it 1 week, I can make it 1 month."

Take it one day at a time, and don't set up limits for yourself.

I don't know, man, I'm not motivated to do this thing.

Day 1

...And fuckin day 1. Listen, to everybody reading this: If you think that you can half-ass the plan and make it, you are deluding yourself. If you think you can get complacent and listen to that voice in the head that tells you: "You can relax a little bit here and there because you can handle it", you are deluding yourself. Quitting porn will never work if the plan is not respected and followed with determination, sacrifice and suffering. For a period of time quitting porn must be number 1 priority and we must do whatever it takes to make it work. I've been disrespecting the plan and paying the price over and over and over. Don't be me. That's all I want to say for now. Good luck and health.
