Day one of Reboot.
I have been a compulsive porn user since my early teens, starting with magazines around 11-12 and then Internet porn into my mid to later teens. Struggled with porn induced ED and loooong refractory periods if any at all. One of my triggers is lying in bed - I’ve used the habit to “relax” for as long as I can remember, yet it is just a distraction from laying quietly with my thoughts. Over the last 8 years or so my habit has improved off and on. About 5 years ago I had a year of sobriety, then took a look again and that was all she wrote. I am in SAAPP, and use Fortify and all sorts of apps and blocks to fight this thing for the last 8 years or so, and have certainly improved and learned many things, but have not yet been able to maintain sobriety. So, I’m joining you folks in adding yet another weapon to the arsenal. I want to give all of myself to my wife, without selfish sexual behavior, and set a good example for my kids. I want to have peace and understand healthy sex. So, let’s get it!

Welcome to the forum. Yes this is not on only a new weapon, but perhaps a potent one at that. Journaling is a great activity that forces your mind to focus on reality. The very fact that so many of us are struggling with this addiction gives you hope and the determination to soldier on.

Keep posting regularly. Read other's journals, offer words of encouragement. Read others' success stories. Remind yourself that this addiction, like any other, can be broken and rendered powerless.

Wish you all the best! Lets win together.

And I start again. It seems nowadays I spend about 23.5 hours a day good to go, not concerned with or wanting to use porn, or selfish sexual behavior, fully understanding it’s negative affects. However, when the urge hits, nothing else matters and seems to be the only thing that matters. I have a long time to be alone, I’m “deployed” on a boat for six weeks, so it’s a good time to get strong and reboot, but the first 3 days have been failures. At that critical morning time, I just use. Here’s to beginning again and looking out for that 90 day magic and beyond.
