Too late now for you this time, I know, but here's a tip.
I find that if I know I'm going to write something that takes a long time that writing it in some text editor first and then copying it and pasting it into the input area of a forum like this is the safest thing to do.
If I didn't intend it to be so long and it just gets that way, I will select all and copy it from the form input into a text editor and finish it there.
Then when I am ready to send, I can paste it in and hit send. If I can't find send, I still have it in the text editor for when I do find it.
