I am one day clean. My dad was a preacher, but it did'nt take with me until I was a complete porn addict. For me I think porn is destructive. For those of you having more succuss - is practical advice better, or Spiritual, or something else?

I don't know if you are still on here, but I think 99% of Christians would be better off with a secular method like https://easypeasymethod.org/ and/or YBOP instead of treating it as a spiritual battle. Here is a great youtube video that shows why Christians have a hard time quitting.

Here were the key points:
  1. Ignoring the rational (only looking at from spiritual) (need a saint-tier level of obedience for this)
  2. Forgiveness = get out of jail free card. Not as good as quitting (e.g. heroin)
  3. Mens groups are more of a "feel better after relapse club"
  4. Focus on feeling "shame" / sinner (which makes you crave porn more)
  5. Pride in telling people you're a sinner (status points) (dysfunctional status hierarchy). Instead of focusing on dignity. (Jesus died to rescue our dignity)

I experienced most of this stuff. I recovered by NOT thinking of it as a spiritual battle. After I quit for my own health, then I felt right with God.
