NoFap can give you up to 25 great quitting ideas every month. But it is important to prioritize which ideas you should work on the most. You will often hear about acquiring the habit of turning from lust. Should you work on it 20 times as much as other things? Yes, in fact work on it all month until it is a habit. The reason why is because it is a top 5 skill to learn to quit porn.

I shared what are my top skills for quitting here.

With every skill for quitting, think about how much you should work on it.

Today, I am writing about keeping hope.

Jeremiah 29:11 ESV For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
God wants us turning from lust, but also consistently praying about something scriptural that we want. Consider praying:

“Father, help me to turn from lust, and help me to have hope.”

If you struggle with hope, quote this verse twice daily and pray this prayer often.

Romans 15:13 ESV
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 12:12 ESV
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

To rejoice in all things is connected with hope.

Isaiah 40:31 ESV / But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Romans 15:4 ESV / 4,149 helpful votes

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Reading the scripture gives us hope.

Today analyze how important focusing on hope is for you. If it is hugely important find verses on hope so that you can print off a page or 2 to study daily. If it is only a tiny need for you, study it for a day and move on tomorrow.

Consider writing down 2-3 skills that you should work on daily until they are habits. These habits will become the foundation that you need for quitting.

1 Corinthians 3:12 ESV “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.”

We all underestimate how great life could be if we do things God’s way. But… until we stop being dominated by habits, it will continue to be that way.

I am quite sure that God has some new additional things for me to do. But I am quite content with doing the things that I currently do. I am dominated by my current habits.

Consider praying: “Father, help me not to be dominated by anything except love.”

Consider praying: “Father, help me not to be dominated by anything except being in Your will”

Today, determine not to be dominated by anything. To stop being dominated by normal things as well as by sins, we need a great goal.

Psalm 145:3 ESV Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.
When we go to war daily with things that dominate us, our great God starts to get bigger and bigger in us. Consider praying:

“Father, take away this spirit of lust, and show me a bit of Your greatness.”

Are you willing to try to do something for Jesus? When we start to do something new for Jesus, more and more of His greatness starts flowing into us, then it starts flowing out of us.

But, I am still dominated by certain things. However, I am thinking about new things, planning new things, I am leaving myself notes about doing new things, and praying about doing new things.

Today I printed out seven new verses to study including the first referenced verse. I searched for verses about things that dominate me. Even though I always meditate on verses, it was still shocking how effective the practice is.

A great daily habit: Study verses about things that dominate you so that you can do what God wants you to do.

This week my goal is to stop underestimating how great life can be if I do things God’s way.

Today I will add Christian books that are available for free if you have Amazon Prime.

The Heart of Addiction: A Biblical Perspective. 4.5 stars

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT ADDICTION: Quitting Drugs, Drinking, Gambling, Porn and Smoking GOD’S WAY. 4 stars

How Peter Quit porn. 5 stars

How to Defeat the Giants in Your Life: Find Freedom from Pornography, Masturbation, and Sex-Related Addictions. 4.5 stars

A Brand New You: The Ultimate Guide for Quitting Porn and Self-Transformation. 4.5 stars. This one is new to me, and I am not sure if there is much about Christianity in it, but it has a lot of great reviews.

Invest in quitting porn. I estimate that the average porn user costs themselves $30,000 to $300,000 from job losses, career changes, and a total lack of direction because of the darkness of the addiction. Some users keep their finances good, but they have even worse costs in other ways.

I will also add a book below that is not about quitting porn because I think that finding your purpose is one of the top five keys to quitting.

The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here For?

They have other recommendations as well. My thanks to Momremade for all her hard work.

Lastly, consider always praying to turn from lust every time you turn on the TV, every time you start a show, and every time a scene changes, giving you a clue that risky things are about to happen.

Develop good TV habits so that you have a better chance to be ready when God has something important for you to do.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

They don’t tell us at church that a great cloud of witnesses are watching us. If they did maybe we would think more about the race than we do about lust.

Over the last two weeks, I have been working to set aside a weight in my life so that I would be able to run the race better. Like most of you, I was worried that if I cut some silly pleasure out of my life, I would not be happy.

Finally, I cut it out, and I still did not know exactly what the “race” was for me. I kept thinking and praying about it. Then yesterday it all clicked. I discovered what I was supposed to do. It was not exactly what I thought. But doing it made me happy.

Matthew Henry wrote: “By the sin that does so easily beset us, understand that sin to which we are most prone, or to which we are most exposed, from habit, age, or circumstances. This is a most important exhortation; for while a man's darling sin, be it what it will, remains unsubdued, it will hinder him from running the Christian race, as it takes from him every motive for running, and gives power to every discouragement. When weary and faint in their minds, let them recollect that the holy Jesus suffered, to save them from eternal misery. By stedfastly looking to Jesus, their thoughts would strengthen holy affections, and keep under their carnal desires. Let us then frequently consider him. What are our little trials to his agonies, or even to our deserts? What are they to the sufferings of many others?”

Today, consider setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to think about the race at least once per hour. Consider praying:

“Father, take away this spirit of lust and show me what the race is all about.”

Watch sermons from pastors who understand that the “race” involves all of us. Become obsessed with laying aside every weight, and sin.

Finally, consider striving to form a habit of thinking about the “race.” A second habit of thinking about praying to Jesus for guidance and help.

I have added this verse to the verses I meditate on. This is the third thing that helps me think in new ways.

Clean thoughts steer us towards a clean life. Think about new things.

David says a person is blessed when his, “delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”

Why use the word law? At least part of the recommendation is to read the Bible. But, he used the term law because we should look to the law every time we need to look to the law if we want that blessing. When lust temptation overwhelms we should study the verses for quitting. We do this to delight in the law, trusting that the law will pound the sin right out of us. When things are under control we should follow his advice and read the Bible.

A new friend of mine said he uses the Horner method to read the Bible. I looked it up and with it you read 10 chapters per day. Maybe that is what David did when he was right with God, at the time he was slaying Goliath. Other systems focus on five chapters per day.

Many are shocked that I know almost all of the New Testament verses regarding sin. But I have studied the key ones a lot because doing so is delighting in the law of the Lord.

Finally, always find new ways to dig into the Bible. It will always be good for you.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Increase your commitment to keeping your eyes clean. Think about that commitment often. EC = eyes clean. If you are bored at work or at school write EC. Are we mocking God when we try to see how much looking we can get away with? Today consider setting an alarm on your phone to remind you to say every hour:

“I praise you Lord with eyes clean.”

An awkward phrase. But a phrase that can start to turn around your thinking.

Background: (David used praise and thanksgiving often in prayer and in everyday life. Paul recommended and practiced praising God, and giving thanks during prayer.)

Why should we consider this awkward sentence? Because David did a lot of prayer and praising before Bathsheba. Then he awkwardly mocked God (with eyes unclean) with his lust. Then he reaped what he sowed.

Instead of copying him say, “I praise you Lord with eyes clean,” every hour. Now I am sowing to please the Spirit. If I pray regularly for God to fill me with the fruits of the Spirit (I pray regularly over each of the fruits) Galatians 5:22–23, I am sowing to please the Spirit.

What three Godly things will you make a commitment to thinking about consistently this week.

Second, use a focus on the harvest in verse nine as one of the secrets to finding joy. You are special and you have a special skill that God can use to change the world.

Third, consider memorizing Galatians 6:7-9.

Finally, the Bible predicts the future when we “Sow to the flesh,” and when we “Sow to the Spirit.” Now you can predict it also.

Many have read verses about lust to combat lust. Some have studied verses about lust to fight lust. But only a few fight lust exactly the way Jesus did. When Jesus was tempted He fought every temptation with a Bible verse. But… Jesus did not have any sin strongholds in his life so satan bounced from one temptation to the next. But that is not how he attacks us. Lust, more lust, then some more lust, maybe with a side dish of covetousness.

When we are trying to break down a stronghold, one verse helps, two are better, but three are even better. Here are three that I really like:

Matthew 6:22-23

“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Romans 6:16 ESV

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?

2 Timothy 2:22 ESV

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

Second, three are probably not enough, but Jesus had the verses memorized. Start by memorizing one and get to three as fast as possible. Then continue to add more.

If you really know all of the verses about lust by heart you won’t think porn is stupid and destructive… you will know it.

Matthew 6:22 completely opened my eyes. I always ended up trading in my great life filled with light and joy for short-term fun which led to darkness, and depression. The more I quoted this verse the more I knew what was really happening. The last few times I went back to porn I literally said: I am ruining my week and month. I am going back to darkness. I will have destruction.

I was correct. That was what happened.

What are the two or three verses you have used to fight back against lust? Please help me out by picking the ones from this list. I am trying to figure out which great verses about quitting are not on this list. If you have a verse specifically about lust that is not on the list please let me know so I can add it.

Lastly, it is hard for us to exactly copy how Jesus lived. But, we certainly can copy His method for fighting temptation.

To conquer sin, or to improve in some area we need to decrease to make room for the Holy Spirit to increase. Once He has enough room in our lives we (because of Him) can start to conquer things.

If I want to conquer anger I should study verses on anger daily.

If I want to conquer anxiety I should study verses on anxiety daily.

If I want to conquer lust I should study verses on lust daily.

If I want to conquer acquiring meekness, I should study verses on meekness daily.

If I want to conquer acquiring love, I should study verses on love daily.

If I want to conquer being in God’s will, I should study verses on being in God’s will daily.

Simply put what you want to conquer in Google. Verses anger. I then look for Open Bible which usually has 100 verses on the topic I want. I then usually copy and paste 25-30 verses into a Word or Google doc, and then trim out some of the off-topic ones so that I can print out a page or two of verses to study daily.

Then I can pray over each verse, meditate on them, and study them.

Key point: It is important to do this with lust, but it is just as important to do it with another thing that you want to change. The reason is… I had this massive stronghold in my life with lust. But while I fought with lust I conquered other things. That started teaching me how to tap into the power.

Ten years ago I would pray, and pray, and pray, and pray, and pray about quitting porn constantly. Then I would fail, fail, fail.

Instead, if we want to fight anxiety, we should study those verses daily. Then… pray, pray, pray. Now the verses are teaching us how to pray with power. Now the verses are making us decrease and giving the Holy Spirit room to increase.

Example: Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are bold as a lion.”

I read this several times per week. I quote it sometimes several times per day.

How This Really Works

Quoting it and praying over a given verse helps, but digging deep into the verse changes everything. Who in this verse are bold as a lion? The righteous. How should I live today if I want to conquer this thing? In obedience.

The verses will tell you exactly what you need to do to conquer what you need/want to conquer. Next, we pray, pray, and then pray some more. But the prayers now have power because our submission to the Bible has caused us to decrease, and the Holy Spirit to increase.

If you have as massive a stronghold with lust in your life as I had, you might conquer one or two other areas first as you are finally conquering lust. But these victories are inspiring and helpful because the more things you conquer, the more you will realize that you (with the help of the Holy Spirit) really can quit.

In Matthew, one of the first things Jesus said was to repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. We repent by memorizing (over time) a list of proper things to think about. We repent by upping our standards in turning from lust by praying about it more often. By often saying: “Father, Your ways are always best.” By our willingness to try to do God’s will. Consider praying:

“Father, take away this spirit of lust, and help me to do Your will.”

Repenting is thinking: “I need to follow Jesus more, I need to think like Jesus more. I need to say more often: “My life will be better if I think more like Jesus, and if I submit more to His will.”

Second, I am off on vacation tomorrow, but I will bring my lists of things to think about and keep working on them. I am going to Universal in Florida for the first time. Temptation will be everywhere, but I will have a list of things to think about and work on while satan is trying to tempt me. I will also pray about 100 times a day to be ready to turn from lust.

Last, in life either we are going higher with Jesus, or we are mulling around giving satan a great chance at winning. Thinking Jesus' way is way better.

Some people think God wants servants who have a lot of college training, but the disciples didn't. Some people think God wants people who are very verbal, smart, or willing to push people even when they are not interested in Christianity.
But that is not what God wants. He wants people who are available. He made you in a completely special way to do something special that only you can do in a great way.
However, sin steals our ability to do what God wants in the way He wants it done. Sure, we can push our religion or denomination on someone, but in order for the Holy Spirit to be able to work through us, we need to go to war against sin.
People read articles on Nofap or Reboot Nation for years. The goal is quitting porn. But that is just a small part of the goal if we want purpose and fullness of joy. Now the goal becomes quitting porn, fighting all sin, and being available for the great purpose that God created us for.
I am fighting today and every day to give up my pleasure-loving ways so that I can do more of what Christ has for me to do. Consider praying:
"Father, I am willing to do Your will. Show me Your will."
I am sitting here in Orlando at Universal (my wife's idea). I have unlimited pleasures at my fingertips. But my first priority is to be available to do what God wants me to do today.
Today, hundreds of thousands of people will try to find joy and satisfaction at Universal. They will all fail. Sure, I rode their fastest roller coaster yesterday. It was awesome... for 96 seconds. A few minutes after that I was very tired and in just a little bit of pain from my 5000-mile walk (that is what it felt like).
Today, a few people will make a commitment to being available. A commitment to doing what they need to do to quit. A commitment to Jesus Christ. Today, they have started down the path to purpose and fullness of joy.

One root cause that leads to temptation is, we want everything our way. We often need daily repentance of this attitude. Consider praying:
"Father, I believe that Your way is best. Help me to strive to live life Your way."
In Genesis 39 there is a verse about a sin against God. Is lust a sin against God? It is way easier to sin if we think... it is just a sin. I try to often remind myself that porn might be a slap in the face to God. That He wants us to find our pleasures in very specific ways. It helps.
A second root cause is just going with the flow. Merely reacting to sin when it gets really problematic. Instead, always work on improving habits of preventive actions. Today I will work on the habit of running from lust again. Today I will work on improving in love. Today I will try to be more available if there is some way to help more people.
Third, develop the habit of fighting temptation like Jesus did. When you are tempted think: What Bible verse would Jesus use to fight this temptation? Then quote the verse as often as you need to. Satan only has a limited number of ways to tempt us.
I used to box with brothers and friends. I would always have my opponents dodging and backing up. When you develop expertise in picking the right verse for fighting temptation you will have satan dodging and backing up.
You can't fight satan alone, but when you use the right scriptures Jesus becomes fully in the fight. Satan can't beat Jesus. That is good for you.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

Do I love watching a beautiful female on TV? Is watching them loving the world? At what point is it for sure “Loving the world?” At the point of lust, it is 100% loving the world.

How do we fight loving the world? Always work on the habit of running from lust when you enter situations of any risk at all. But most importantly, dedicate a block of prayer to praying about lust every day. One could easily pray for 20 minutes per day:

“Father, show me which verse to use to fight my next temptation.”

Will God answer your prayer? Maybe. What? I could never be a TV preacher… no one would donate. Will God answer your prayer if you are studying verses on lust so that you are ready to go to war with lust? Quite likely.

Some people think God gets mad at us when we sin. But I have never had a verbal conversation with God so I won’t comment on that. But for fun let’s assume that we get in a real rut and God seems very far away. We pray and He seems even farther away.

This never happens when we study Bible topics in areas that we need to change. God is the Word. He is speaking to you when you read the Bible. He is leading you very directly when you study specific topics regularly with a complete dedication to change.

The Solution

The first few times you dedicate 20 minutes to praying about quitting, pray directly over the verses about lust. Read a verse and pray about it for a minute. Read another, pray, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Does God bless us when we do this? 100% yes! Psalm One says that we are blessed when we meditate on God’s Word.

We look at how Jesus fought temptation and think… I am not Jesus, it’s not going to work so smoothly for me. You are right. He is perfect, we are not perfect. But if you keep doing it daily something great happens. He starts filling you up. You decrease, He increases. You get out of the way, and He starts showing you how to overcome.

When we establish great new habits our prayer time changes. He seems very close. We feel a special love in our lives. We want to try to do something to help others. A light begins to burn brighter and brighter. Joy starts to flow a bit. We begin to see the Answer because the Answer is now filling up our lives.

Jesus sacrificed His body on the cross for us. The absolute least we can do in return for Him is to take quitting seriously.

Satan uses the same tricks time after time to get us to fall. If you fall, consider sacrificing a few minutes to write down in a notebook exactly what led up to it. Second, tell someone here what happened and ask for tips about what to do next time in a situation like that. Third, spend some time in prayer and ask God what you should have done. Fourth, do research on what made you fall. If loneliness overwhelmed you, determine to look up verses about loneliness next time. Fifth, think and pray about which Christian trait you need to be stronger in the next time you are in a similar situation. Pray about how often you need to pray about acquiring that trait. Sixth, we always have a choice of running from sin and studying things at this site. When we choose the wrong thing… destruction happens. Write down in your notebook how you feel about the darkness and destruction and future destruction that is still coming. Consider praying: “Father help me to not overestimate the (very short-term) pleasure of lust, and help me to not underestimate the problems it always causes.”

Consider printing out this list and putting it in your notebook. Seventh, write down the answer to every question about what happened. Eighth, spend three or four days adding to your notes as you continue to pray, think and plan.

Finally, when a similar situation happens again… get out your notebook and read your prophecy about your future. Then write down your new ending.

I refuse to underestimate the negative long-term effects of lust. It is the least that I can do after what Jesus did for me!

Please share what causes you to fall.

In Matthew 7 the Bible says that we must be in God's will. Obviously, sinful lust is not in God's will. But the problems are just as real after repenting from lust. If we don't start getting in God's will after repenting we will go back.
Thankfully there is a direct connection between being in God's will and joy. Biblical Paul was at least 99% in His will and he really did have fullness of joy.
The problem is that satan will fight tooth and nail to try to convince you to do your own thing instead of fighting to be in God's will. But he is a liar.
Today, consider trying to increase how much you are in God's will. First, pray often about it. Pray to care about souls, pray about loving and helping people, pray about what God wants you to do.
Second, be willing to do something. Volunteer at your church to help out, get involved in some Christian charity, and determine to be a shining example of Jesus' love.
Third, Jesus prayed for at least an hour per day. If God's son needed to pray that much do I? Of course, the answer is yes.
Fourth, what is the most fulfilling joyful hour of my day? It is the time I spend in prayer seeking to know God's will for my life. Additionally, now I can find joy throughout the day. Because, if I get being in God's will right, I have increased my right to have joy exponentially.
Fifth, do a Google search on how to find God's will. Consider taking some notes, and study your notes every day this week.
Sixth, memorize the fact that the Bible says that we must be "In God's will." A big part of a long-term struggle with a habit is because... we quit, and now we have a void in our lives. We don't fill it by being in God's will. The mad cycle continues.
Seventh, it is not easy to pull off. We need a one-week, one-month, and one-year plan. But the results of pulling it off are joy, peace, purpose, contentment, love, and self-control.
Last, at God's right hand are pleasures forevermore. We get to have His pleasures as well.

The Bible commands loving others. But what if you are right and they are wrong? Should we not try to convince them of the truth?
Our job as Christians is to "present" the truth to others. This applies to spiritual things or just normal things in life. When people believe the opposite of what we do, we refer back to the above command. Once we have stated our case for what we believe we "allow" them to have their opinion. We show them both love and respect for their opinion.
Don't allow them to continue to try to prove their point with you if you are in complete disagreement. Don't keep trying to convince them when you are in complete disagreement. Instead continue to focus on your increase in love. Second, if you don't have a one or two-page printout with verses about love, today is a good day to do that. Jesus died for us because of His great love for us. I need to study my verses on love more. We all do. For example, we argue with someone at work, school, or at home, and get angry. One of my printed-out verses from 1st Corinthians 13 talks about how love does not get angry. I read this printout often and when I do I pray, "Father, take away my anger."
It is amazing how arguments die when no one gets mad. When one person shows respect for the other person.
Third, what if you really need to convince them of the truth? The best way to do that is to stay calm, truly listen to them, and softly explain the facts. If they insist on arguing stay quiet and pray to increase in love. This method allows you a future opening to talk to them again when they might be more open to the truth.
Fourth, satan sinks millions of people every day by getting them into disagreements. 1 John 4:16 God is love, and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him." We keep the Holy Spirit fully in us when we are the person who is the peacemaker.
But, when we escalate the fight satan gets more and more of the room. Then when the fight is over he has us about 99% exactly where he wants us. We know how that ends.
Finally, pray to have love and respect for others when you disagree with them. Pray often about getting the anger out. Pray about allowing others to have an opinion. Pray about being a peacemaker, and pray always about increasing in love.
Satan's trick is to get you fighting and fighting mad so that you fall. The next time he pulls that trick with you, just let him know... you now have a plan.

The power of our prayer increases when we commit to following God's Word today. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
A prayer to escape lust that forgets to pursue a Christian trait is a nice prayer. A life dedicated to pursuing traits like these four leads to a prayer life that begins to have power. Consider praying:
"Father, help me to flee lust, and give me a zeal for purity."
Active Christianity noted: "People who flee youthful lusts and fight for purity in their lives are few and far between. They are extremely precious in the sight of God, and He is able to use them to accomplish His good and perfect will on earth. “Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.” 2 Timothy 2:21."
A Practical Example
I recently saw an ad about a steaming service that promotes a lot of smut. Today that ad popped into my mind. I immediately rejected that thought and started praising God and then prayed the prayer of Jabez: Lord, I pray that you would expand my borders, and bless me indeed.
In 2:22 Paul is recommending we run from lust as if a rabid dog is chasing us. But even more importantly, we pick a spiritual thing to set our minds on. These four traits are four of the best ten things we can set our minds on.
Pursue
Our prayer life becomes a blazing fire when we make a habit of pursuing Godly traits. This century, consider making it a daily habit to pursue. Very few medical students struggle with lust the day before their final exam. They are in full pursuit of becoming a doctor.
Consider writing down 4-5 traits that you will pursue (probably one at a time) over the next 4 days. Then keep updating your list often. Obviously, you can pursue things like righteousness and love as a focus for one day out of every week.
Now you can study what you are pursuing a bit that day, and now you can pray fanatically with power to acquire what you are pursuing instead of being overcome with lust.

Gordon, how is your personal recovery going? I always have the impression that you mistakenly think you're in bible study class when you post. ;)
My recovery is going great. I admit I have a very high opinion of the Bible. Before quitting I had everything in life that one could want, except joy. Now that I quit I have that joy. I am not trying to convince anyone to do it this way. I just think that there are other people out there just like me. I couldn't quit unless I did it this way.
I love this site because it gives multiple ways to quit.

Sloth (Laziness) often leads to overwhelming temptation.

Proverbs 21:25-26 ESV The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. All day long he craves and craves, but the righteous gives and does not hold back.”

Fight sloth because if you are someone who craves and craves, temptations will rule you.

Take special notice when reading old articles which give advice as to what “to do.” Copy and paste (or take notes on) articles that give things to do. Consider constantly praying about doing something:

“Father, help me to get moving.”

Christianitytoday.com noted:

Sloth is psychological indifference and physical weariness toward the work that God has provided for one to accomplish.[3] Occasionally, sloth is due to Christians so emphasizing God's providential care for them and his promise to meet all their needs that they neglect the important element of their human responsibility to use their God-given abilities to engage in civilization So how can we avoid sloth?
  • Acknowledge God's explicit will for human beings to work to build civilization as the divine purpose for humanity.

  • Affirm that God has equipped you to do some kind of work.”
Second, lay up treasures in heaven first. If you don’t know how… consider praying:

“Father, show me how to lay up treasures in heaven.”

Third, get involved in other activities.

Finally, plan what you are going “to do.” Laziness is a habit also. Keep fighting it daily because it often leads to lust.
