Reboot rookie

New to the site, new to my acknowledgement of my addiction to pornography. I have had porn in my life since I was a teenager. I have been able to walk away from it but have always come back to it. Porn has seriously hurt my spouse, I made a promise to stop and got caught again. I broken her heart again. Since being caught the last time, I have been Reading and I don’t want to hurt her anymore or completely destroy my brain. It has been a few weeks since I have looked at porn (psub). I have never been a pleasant person to be around, using porn or not. I have to grow or lose the only person who has ever truly been there for me.

I had been building trust back in the relationship from the last time I got caught and my wife trusted me to get IG and FB. My phone is locked down but IG didn’t seem to be filtered. I started looking at images. I just couldn’t keep my promise. From what I have read already this place should be a big help getting me healthy

I am going to be honest. I can't imagine a healthy relationship with social media for us. Social Media is an addiction by itself already. Our brain is damaged, in order to heal we have to forgo internet related addictive systems.

youd do well to avoid ALL social media like IG. unfortunately these platforms are the perfect place for people with self-esteem issues and narcissistic tendencies to get their tits and arses out. so its very risky buisness for anyone trying to reboot! it could be a trigger that leads to a full PMO relapse

It has been a couple days, things are going well. My wife and I have been having open conversations about porn, my past with porn. It has been really helpful and brought a new understanding of how it impacts her, me and our relationship. Thanks for the comments and support.

That's great news man. Having her there to go through the shit with you will be amazingly helpful I'm sure. Keep on keeping her in the loop on how you're feeling. As you rewire, the relationship you have with her can get even stronger. Flirt with her and be playful. Not only will it be fun as hell, it'll help you heal faster.

Thank you!

1/18/22 No porn and no urges. Feeling better each day. Focused on my spouse and myself. Porn is everywhere, TV and movies. Coming face to face with porn and how it changes you and effects your brain and your family. Thanks for the support!

Things are still going good. No urges. Still upset at myself for doing it in the first place. It’s a horrible industry that thrives on peoples low self esteem.

Overreacted towards my wife yesterday for something that was dumb on my part.(not porn related) We had been making progress and in an instant, boom! Not giving up!

Still moving forward, had a friend / coworker pass away quickly from cancer. Those events are normally a trigger to use porn to make myself feel better. Focused on my and my wife’s well being. No urges to use. One day at a time.
