Early days of a "pure" reboot. Advice welcomed

Hey guys,

I'm 32(soon to be 33) and the last time i masturbated to porn was November 9, 2021 (so over 6 months) but my reboot wasn't "pure" or hardmode because i still orgasmed regularly(sex only) and looked at porn substitutes. I'm now committed to going 3-4 months without sexual activity to see if that helps with my PIED. I'm on day 13 of no porn/porn substitutes, and day 27 no orgasm. Any other advice would be great appreciated.

I think substitutes for porn triggers the very same paths in your brain that porn used to do. Basically anything on a screen that gets that dopamine pumping is no good for you. Congrats on the decision to stop porn substitutes and way to go on 27 with no O! Impressive. Stay strong and keep us updated!

One thing that helped us in our rewire was avoiding orgasm in sexual situation. My wife and I would be sexual. And even have sex, but I was not allowed to cum. Really seemed to line things up for us and helped tremendously with pied recovery

Appreciate it, I'm a single man though. I'm aiming for 3-4 months of no orgasm.

My guess is you’ll see some results For sure. I only went hard mode for about a month…approx. Days 60-90. Saw really noticeable differences after about 100 days on the reboot in general. Good luck man

Hit one month of no porn yesterday. Something sexual was sent to my phone this morning but deleted it and didn't dwell on the image mentally just went back to sleep. Month 2 starts Wednesday.

You’re doing well. In hard mode you can get in a groove and hit almost a monk like status. Nice work

Hi @Michael89 . The hard mode is, as it says, hard. I am 93 days clear of PMO, and during that I initially went 30 days no orgasm, then I lapsed and MO’d twice in a week. Then I went 45 days no orgasm and lapsed again just over a week ago. I say lapse but it was more desperation from build up. I think going no MO for 90 or more days is what some see as the ultimate reboot but I think you can get to a point where the urge to MO is so great you slightly have to. I suppose my point is that the reboot rules are not hard and fast - the most important thing is no porn at all, and I think we include in that no fantasy about porn as well.

Keep going. Your resolve is inspiring.

Thanks. I’m definitely very horny in the morning and desiring to have a release but I’m going endure to 90 days because I’m not trying to do go multiple months without orgasming again. But I do know there is no denying based on the data “hard mode” works, but I’m a young guy and going 4-6 months(or longer) without having an orgasm just ain’t for me.

Update:
Always gotta be vigilant, was on social media early this morning and had a flare up with a IG story i watched that triggered me. Ended up watching it 3 times, and definitely dwelled on it mentally as i tried to go to sleep. I'm not going consider it a relapse because i didn't necessary seek it out(it was one of my instagram followers) but i do realize social media can be very dangerous. Anyway tomorrow will be 2 months no porn, and 2 months & 14 days no orgasm. July will be month 3, and I do plan to introduce sex back into my life with 1 orgasm per month going forward.

I’m currently on day 90 of No PMO and it’s been surprisingly easy compared to previous attempts. The thing I’ve done different this time is I stopped masturbating entirely. That’s always been a slippery slope for me in the past. I am having sex with my wife and have orgasmed 32 times during this 90 day stretch. I’ve also stayed off Instagram completely and Facebook has been drastically reduced.

Even when taking ED pills I’d have ED maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of the times we had sex. This was still the case in past attempts at stopping porn where I still masturbated.

This time I’m still taking ED pills but I’ve had absolutely zero ED for 103 days (last time was a couple weeks before I started no PMO). This is huge for me. My relationship with my wife and even our sex frequency has increased with no effort. I’ve even tried to back off a little.

The 2 big things that made a difference for me where no Instagram and no masturbation.

Now that I’m at 90 days no PMO I think it’s time to take on a new addiction which is food and probably the actual cause of my ED as I’m obese, have high blood pressure, and pre-diabetes.

Appreciate you speaking on your experience. I'll definitely being taking a break from Instagram as i go into July.
