Reboot question

While doing a reboot they advise to eliminate all triggers like social media with pictures of women. So i did that and it really helped.

But is it ‘allowed’ to look at pictures of girls/women who don’t give you any sexual thoughts? Just the beautifull girls. Or should i also try to avoid this type of pictures because of the dopamine it realeases?

(No sarcasm intended here) You just made me wonder something else...I wonder if you avoided looking at all "beautiful" girls if it would alter your perception of what beautiful is.

I think, for me, it's more the motive and intent. If there was a beautiful girl walking through a store that I noticed, so be it. But, if I am seeking it out, that slips into fantasy for me. I don't think the issue, with me at least, is the picture(s) more than it is what I do with it in my head. Hard to explain, but it's like I am trying to get a hit off of it, and so I will start creating this fantasy in my head, or trying to get some kind of rush off of it, and at that point, I can feel a temporary spike, then very quickly, it drops me. I think that is the feeling of how screwed up my dopamine is due to long term porn use. This stuff doesn't work anymore, but yet it is still going to try and use it. It's a cruel joke really. Lol. I can actually feel the same thing, when pointlessly scrolling down my Facebook page (ha!). That is what I am trying to avoid, so my brain can return to a normal state.

Don't know if that helps or not. I am just trying to participate on this forum and show support to others.

Good luck @nicknickuser.

I would recommend avoiding any and all pictures of women during your reboot. You may think it's okay, but deep down they could be triggering the same ideas and actions as looking at sexual material. In fact, you should make an effort to keep your computer / cell phone use to a minimum during a reboot.

I feel like that's like an alcoholic switching to light beer. Not a good idea. Plus, just being honest here I think the motive for men to look at pictures of beautiful women is ALWAYS sexual. Just because you're not getting a boner and fapping to it doesn't mean it isn't arousing (if it wasn't, then you'd have no motivation to want to look). Personally I think you're better off without it.

as long as youre not looking at such images for the purpose of getting turned on or for jerking to. but looking at images may be a trigger and lead to seeking out porn
