Just Keep Swimming

Been doing a lot of research and finally was led to join this forum! Decided I should keep a journal just to keep my spirits up and hopefully find a bit of support. For context I’m 20 years old and been an avid P user since I was about 13ish. Over the past couple years it’s been an everyday activity, with multiple days of the week watching it more than twice. I kinda always knew it was a problem but I had no idea the actual affects of it until I was trying to have sex with someone and I wasn’t as into it as I had thought I would be, after all I had been waiting for that moment since I was a teenager lol! I enjoyed watching P because it took away from the depression I had faced throughout my teenage years. After all the research I think I’ve found just how badly P has messed me up which is why I’m committed to changing that.

It’s been 2 days without PMO and I’m feeling very proud but also a bit nervous for the long journey ahead of me, but I’m going to do it because I deserve to have a better life and mental state. Excited to read and interact with other people on here as well. Wish me luck!!! :)

Hopefully I’m doing this thread thing correctly haha but it’s been a week now since any PMO and I’ve been feeling pretty good! I’ve been spending more time with family and friends which is a huge plus. Went up to the mountains the other day and it was so beautiful to be up there for a full day and getting to disconnect.

Apart from all the good things going on I have been having some heavy withdrawal symptoms in the form of not being able to fall asleep which has been going on for a few days now and I don’t really know my way around that other than to keep trying to tire myself out throughout the day.

Going to try and create a weight loss/workout plan in order to feel the pleasure of accomplishing goals instead of pleasure from P! Hoping this all works out haha

Welcome, Carlos. I'm also fairly new to the forum (50 days into my reboot) and find that it's a very valuable resource. You have a lot of caring guys here who have gone through the same turmoil and will have good advice and encouragement. Read as many threads on this forum as you can. Read as many articles about porn addiction as you can. If you haven't already, read Your Brain On Porn from cover to cover. Because knowledge is power.

And you're totally doing the right thing by spending time with others and outdoors. Anything that breaks up the usual habits that lead you back to porn.

I'm also working on weight loss and exercise during my reboot. Regular exercise really helps. Stay strong, stay focused. Good luck!
