Recovery Road: Day 0

Hey there,

Last year, I discovered I had PIED when I started dating a lady after 2 years of no dating due to covid.

It came as such a shock to me and the emotion roller coaster over the course of the next 4 months led to us breaking up; I was very devastated.

During this time, I discovered your brain on porn and other informative platforms about PIED, and I've been trying to abstain from PMO, but I find the longest streak I can go on was 25 days, and on average I can go 2 weeks; an improvement from watching porn almost daily over the past 2 years.

I have decided to start journals weekly to hold myself accountable, because it seems I always relapse on sundays/mondays every 2 weeks.

Going forward I am going to take a step by step approach, these are my new goals for the year:
  • Complete 1 week
  • Complete 2 weeks
  • Complete the rest of August without viewing porn
  • Afterwards take it monthly.
From my ups and downs over the last 6 months, I know my triggers are loneliness and peeking to get that hit of dopamine when I am feeling down ( I have come to learn that PMO was a tool I used in the past to help deal with the anxiety, stress or sadness).

I have a pretty good exercise routine, but over the course of the rest of the year, I am going to try and spend less time on YouTube and more time reading the getting better at conversing with strangers.

If any one else is on the journey, I would be more than happy to have accountability partners, I will be checking weekly on Monday evenings.

Take care and good luck to us all.
