Is there permanent damage? Rebooting at 29.

Been rebooting a while and though I abstain for long periods, there have been times latel I've had a short, sharp relapse.

Seems enough to set me back completely.

Very frustrating and worrying.
My penis now seems an inch shorter and can only get 70% erect. Have I caused permanent ED?

Dude I have seen your posts dating many years back, are you still struggling with the Flatline and are you having Anhedonia? How long have you done hard mode? Are you on any meds for depression?

I've done loads of hard mode and many long periods of abstaining. Use cialis 5mg more often than not nowadays.
Spent 2 weeks on an SSRI 7 years ago.

My advice: stop worrying about your penis length and erections. The porn addiction has done more damage to your brain than you realize. Stick with your reboot and recover. And at age 29 there's a 99% chance you have not caused permanent damage. ;)

How do you know though? Surely there's a point it causes permanent damage. I've barely watched porn in about 6 years.

I'm definitely not an addict by any stretch.

And yet I'm still struggling and have to use pills at times.

Firstly some bad news for you-there is permanent damage for sure. How else do you explain many guys struggling with the PIED for many years ? However if you think logically about that, one year is definitely enough for your brain to rewire and get used to new things and so on,yet so many guys even after 5 or 6 years have PIED."Why?" you may ask yourself...well that's because they are too afraid and too nervous. Many guys struggle with their mind, constantly having depressing thoughts about their penis and their life and with that kind of attitude how do they expect to get aroused ever ?You see,if you are nervous and deeply convinced that you and your penis are broken,in that case you will stay broken forever and damage is permanent. What you need to do is stop whining about permanent damage and accept the fact that you are healed from porn and you have been that way for very long time.At the moment your problem is that you are anxious about your performance you convinced yourself that there is no hope for you...I know it's hard but relax your mind enjoy the moment with your partner, maybe eat her out first and then ask her for HJ you will probably relax if you are laying down and receiving pleasure,I mean do whatever feels comfortable,if penetration makes you go limp right now, bro skip that for now there is plenty of time. Also, remember that sex is much more than just putting your hard penis in vagina.

And no, your penis isn't shorter that's just silly, why would you think it is shorter now after you relapsed,it doesn't make any sense.I can only imagine how anxious and silly your thoughts are when you are about to have penetrative sex with your partner - it's impossible to have sex if you let discouraging and depressing thoughts in your mind like you are doing right now,it completely kills your libido and stops your brain from sending signals to your willy and no pill in this world can help you with that mindset, trust me.
Wish you all the best in your final recovery!

The only things i can think are:
-you need a full dopamine detox
-you have thiroid/adrenal issues
-you have pelvic floor dysfunction
Or a mix of these

But this seems to be normal for all men. Each orgasm reduces the level of arousal, but, that also happens to men who have never been adict to the PMO. I know this first hand because I have men friends that after the third orgasm during an afternoon of sex they feel tired and they stop.

Maybe it's part of a man's normal refractory period.

Good post. A relevant portion for the OP, “It’s quite possible that drugs, due to their toxicity, can cause permanent damage to dopamine systems, which behavioral addictions do not.
That’s why it’s incorrect when websites or speakers state that Internet porn is just like meth or crack cocaine. Such analogies lead people to think that that porn use can cause damage just like meth use. For some, kicking porn addiction may be harder than kicking drug addiction, but this does not indicate it causes greater neurological damage. The difficulty in ending an addiction may simply correlate with the level of neuroplastic change caused by use.... A former porn addict may be sensitized (likely to relapse) to porn or related cues and may need to stay away from porn. Indefinitely. But would you say his brain is damaged? No.”

Exactly. And this is also why the idea of PAWS is not to be taken seriously when it comes to kicking porn addiction. The truth is, I am one of those who do not believe in PAWS, at least in the case of behavioral addictions.

If you guys dig deep, the YBOP site never developed the PAWS idea, at least from a medical or scientific standpoint. If you take a good look at what is in YBOP about PAWS, it does not go beyond very little and very short, in fact, it only cites a few pieces of evidence that were taken from forums.

What I want to imply is that irreversible damage is highly unlikely to exist, just as PAWS is highly unlikely to exist. One of the most absurd things I have come across on these forums is people comparing porn addiction to drug addiction. They are very different. And it is also very absurd in my opinion, to talk about PAWS when it comes to porn addiction. PAWS (Post Acute Withdrawal Symptoms) manifest in substance addictions, but are not real in porn addiction recovery.

In fact, the founder of this forum-Gabe Deem-started out as a porn addict very early in his life (at age 12). However, he never during the recovery process spoke of having experienced PAWS.

In my opinion, men who experience long flat lines may have the following problems:

1. Hormonal problems.

2. Pre-existing issues that have little to do with your past porn addiction habits.

3. An incorrect idea of how sexual desire really works. They may also be experiencing an incorrect idea of the state of mind.

4. Anxiety to approach sex with another person.

5. Low libido normally. """yes""" --- although it sounds inconsistent, the truth is that there are people who have low libido and that is normal. Once they kick their addiction to pornography, these men begin to discover what the level of their sexual desire (libido) really is.
