What's the longest flatline you've experienced?

41 months on Nofap, 38 months in the " Flatline " and counting. Still have all the " Flatline " symptoms :

- No Libido / Feel asexual
- Genital numbness & shrinkage ( penis feels disconnected from body, lack of blood flow )

Other PAWS symptoms :

- Emotional numbness / anhedonia
- Low motivation
- Brain fog
- Social anxiety
- Weak bladder & urine stream

Dopamine issues indeed...
I don't understand... how the hell is that even possible? But it seems that it is.

I just finished reading Gary Wilson's your brain on porn book. It was interresting to read despite the fact that english is not my own language. It wasn't very difficult to understand. The book ended when the thoughts about VR porn started. Future young boys and men are in deep trouble if they start using VR porn. It's pretty much game over then.

You said once that you had 24 orgasms in 30 months.

1. How many conscious orgasms did you have during this 41 months ?

2. Did you have this conscious orgasms through masturbation, porn or sex ?

3. How old are you ?

4. When did you start with PMO / MO ?

5. How long did you do PMO / MO ?

6. Do you consume alcohol, drugs or medication ?

I ask this questions, so that I know more about your process.

1 - 41 months = 31 conscious orgasms

First year = 11
Second year = 6
Third year = 13
This year so far = 1

2 - Through masturbation. Some with porn, others with my own imagination ( with no natural libido or arousal trough physical touch ).

3 - 39

4 - Not exactly sure. Way too soon, before or during my puberty ( probably the main reason for long " Flatlines " )

5 - Also not sure. Between 20, 24 years....i also had sex.

6 - No. I changed the physical state of my brain reward center only with porn.

The timeline for PAWS is usually 6 to 24 months. This is getting scary.

Hi guys. I was looking at this forum and surprising to find cases of long flat lines. I identify with this thread and that's why I start my situation here just like you.

I left the PMO ten years ago and still in Flatline. Yes guys. 10 years at Flatline

This is my story.

I have read your threads for months and scare the shit out of me. How long have you been actually rebooting hardmode? This doesn’t make any sense how you can be in flatline for 10 years now.

Like any sign of withdrawals improving? You don’t have testosterone issues prior or currently? Rewiring didn’t work for you at all? You been on Ed pills for these past ten years? You can’t naturally get erections with at least being with a woman a tiny bit? I’m trying to understand how this is all possible? 10 yrs of no libido how have you managed dude? I hope you recover asap.

1. Did you have sex as much as PMO / MO ?

2. Did you escalate in fetishes and other categories within the years ?

3. When did you stop watching normal porn ? When was normal porn boring for you ?

4. What is your current streak ? From the day you had your last conscious ejaculation.

-->

About PAWS... That's right. But I found some success stories from the benzo forum that lasted between 36 - 48 months.
So I will remain patient until month 48. The symptoms from benzo abstinence are worse than from PMO.

Here is a 42 months success story from benzos.

42 months PAWS - benzo success story

You may know it but I will say it again. Through my research I know that relapses through masturbation, porn or sex, can delay the healing. So I really advise you to stop relapsing.

1 ) Yes. But the experience of sex always felt odd, like Gary Wilson used to say, " training the brain for the wrong sport " . For many years, sex was a chore to me. Now, i feel asexual, i have no sexual perception or desire. It is really weird and frustrating. Same thing for my emotions.

2 ) Yes. Desensitization & Escalation . Dopamine baseline messed up. Less dopamine receptors, all that stuff....

3 ) That is a hard question to answer, but i think my escalation was quick.

4 ) Current streak is 4 months.

And yes, Nofap consistency is crucial to recovery.

Having anhedonia for so long is a hard experience, the only tool to pleasure in this context, is artificial sources of dopamine, in this case, porn or porn novelty that we create in our own minds.

Two questions :

1 - Do you have genital numbness ? If so, for how long ?

2- What do you think of the idea of " Rewiring " during the " Flatline " ? Personally, i think it is nonsense.

Because he replaced PMO with MO and sex. He will never be cured, if he has conscious ejaculations. He said by himself that rewiring is a myth.

1. I have a weak urine stream. I have a low libido. I feel asexual. I am not interested in sexual things. I don't want to do PMO, MO or have sex. I don't have a morning wood. I find almost every woman that I see in real life, very beautiful, but I don't feel much sexual urges.

I have one nocturnal emission per week. Sometimes it is with a dream and sometimes without a dream. If I have a sexual dream I am very sensitive in the dream. I ejaculate quickly while sleeping. When I have this ejaculation while sleeping, I don't feel the positive effects of an orgasm. The sperm just comes out and I don't feel emotions when ejaculating.

I can have erections if I would marry a woman and then touch, kiss and have sex with this woman. But I will not do this in the near future. I don't want to delay my healing. But I don't know how strong strong this erections will be and if I would ejaculate quickly. I am sensitive and ejaculate quickly when I have wet dreams, so maybe I will have PE during sex. I don't know. I am still a virgin and had no sexual relationships.

Yes. It feels like my genital part is numb. I can tell you more if you ask more in detail. I have all of this things since day 1, but I had improvements when I had PAWS reductions at month 4, 6, 18 and 32. Currently at month 35.

2. You're right. Rewiring is nonsense. By the way - Through simple Google search you can read that masturbation / sex / orgams releases a lot of neurotransmitter like dopamine, serotonine, endorphines and more in high levels. They even say it officially...

You’re free to give your opinion, but please stop saying masturbation without porn and/or sex are considered relapses. They’re not.

For many rebooters, the goal is to be able to have sex or masturbate without being dependent on porn for arousal.

This is a porn addiction and porn-induced sexual dysfunction recovery forum, whether or not someone masturbates and has sex is up to each individual.

Many successful rebooters have found masturbation without porn beneficial.

Furthermore, some guys with porn-induced ED may need to orgasm in order to “jump-start” their libido after a reboot or extended flatline.

Lastly, everyone should get checked out with a good doctor and therapist to rule out other causes.

For general advice, see our basics of rebooting page.

Hope this helps. Much love

You also make a mistake in comparing PMO withdrawal to people recovering from BENZO use. Please do not compare withdrawal from a behavioral addiction like PMO with withdrawal from a drug addiction:

I quote below something on YBOP:

That said, each drug uniquely affects physiology, and drugs may alter the brain in ways that behavioral addictions do not. In addition, drugs such as cocaine and meth raise dopamine far higher (at first) than levels attainable with natural rewards. It’s quite possible that drugs, due to their toxicity, can cause permanent damage to dopamine systems, which behavioral addictions do not.

That’s why it’s incorrect when websites or speakers state that Internet porn is just like meth or crack cocaine. Such analogies lead people to think that that porn use can cause damage just like meth use. For some, kicking porn addiction may be harder than kicking drug addiction, but this does not indicate it causes greater neurological damage. The difficulty in ending an addiction may simply correlate with the level of neuroplastic change caused by use.

That said, behavioral addictions do not cause permanent brain damage, while substance addictions possibly do. This is why I advise you not to put BENZOS recovery as an example with PMO recovery because it is very different.

You still haven't answered my two simple questions. It seems that you have something to hide.

With your headline like "10 years and still in the flatline" it can be that you scare others and it seems like a deception.

Did you even read my text ?

I wrote the following: "The symptoms from benzo abstinence are worse than from PMO."

I agree with you. Drugs like crystal meth, cocaine or benzos alter and damage the brain much more than PMO. The withdrawal symptoms from drugs are much worse than from PMO. PAWS from drugs also tend to last longer than from PMO.

Since even drug addicts had PAWS for 3-4 years and were cured, yet these success stories are in our favor. Therefore, we can expect to be cured within 3-4 years as well. This is for motivation and hope.

Many PAWS of drugs also contain the PAWS of PMO such as anxiety, depression, anhedonia, brain fog, fatigue, insomnia and many more.

I have spent the last 3 years of my life searching success stories and educating myself about PAWS. I have found many success stories between 24-36 months and some success stories between 36-48 months. Believe me. I am very knowledgeable about this topic.

So... if i want to remain in the " Flatline " forever, all i have to do is to avoid an orgasm ? Going by your logic, this can really happen to me or someone else ?

There needs to be an official scientific study over the " Flatline " . Even the founder of this forum makes statements with implications that make no sense.

Few months i think. No flatlines anymore after 10months of nofap. I don't know if i'm healed or not but definetly the situation is not how i would like it to be. My libido fluctuates. I realized just recently that after the sex and ejaculation libido goes down quite heavily for few days and then it peaks again one week after the ejaculation. Reason is simple. My testo is low. Free testo is below reference values. I believe sex makes my testo go even more down and as we all know if one starts semen retention (after the ejaculation) his testosterone spikes up at the seventh day. It's pretty comforting to know that libido works somewhat regularly. So, now i'm having normal sex once a week and karezza between the ejaculations if my wife requires sex more often.

But ofcourse i would like to have steady libido and normal levels of testosterone. If this testo fluctuation does not end next year, perhaps it would be best for me to see a urologist at some point.

Does anyone have any info about testosterone and nofap? Is it possible that testo goes down because of decades of pmo? Is it possible to go up again if one does not PMO ever again?

My understanding is that fapping does not impact your test besides the short term drop in testosterone all men experience shortly after orgasm, I don't think sex is supposed to drop your test levels for multiple days, but I suppose I could be mistaken. How low are your numbers? 300s? And at what age? Test levels aren't supposed to be related to ED unless they're quite low, but could be diet or even thyroid factors involved if your levels are really quite low.
