I wanted to spend my 500th post by showing appreciation to this forum.
I started in the very first week and there were only a handful of us here
that posted regularly. So it was like the same handful that I would respond to
and vice versa. Oh my how times have changed in 12 short months.
Seeing how many members who have signed up to contribute really puts
things in good perspective.
A lot of us in our 40's kept this PMO problem undercover and for years, didn't have
an outlet to discuss it. We're the generation that started out with magazines
because that's all we had. Then in the 80's, home video like VHS was the thing
to get. Late night cable television definitely had an impact as we grew later in
our teens. And nothing could prepare us for high speed internet porn in our
adulthood.
We were way to embarrassed to talk about this with our buddies
and of course, we didn't want to tell our wife/lover that the problem stems from
chronic PMO. Now that the issue is getting more and more mainstream press, it's
not as taboo as before. It's even making it's way to water cooler discussions.
Me personally, I went from above average sex drive to wet noodle and started
getting depressed. Doctors and Psychologists were a dead end. Did some internet research and came across Gabe Deen
explaining his journey which lead me here. I can't thank him enough for
starting this site. His influence and all the tireless work in getting this issue out there to the rest
of the world. It takes a lot of courage to step out like that so big ups to Gabe-
Then Gary Wilson's original Tedx Talk set the wheels in motion and gave me a clearer understanding of
why I was going through what I was going through.
I'm probably missing some others too but finally, I want to thank all of you out there who post topics and sincerely
reply to those of us who need the help. Those of us who are out there trying to fight the addiction and keep our
spirits high. It's good to know that I'm not alone.
