Losing My Awesome, Hot Wife or I Have to Reboot

Hi. I'm Anton.  This first one will be brief because it's already late and I have to go to bed soon.  I started on internet porn when I was about 24.  This was still in the dial-up era.  Easily one of the greatest orgasms I ever had was to a picture I found that first night of exploration.  Fast forward a few years and I was able to find and download video.  I never thought this was a problem--masturbation's normal--until the last few years when, for the first time in my life, I've had difficulty getting an erection.  Many, many hours of arguments with my fantastic wife, her showing me the TED talk, and I'm finally able to admit I'm addicted and have to do a reboot.

To answer some of the questions, I haven't masturbated for a few days, haven't watched any porn in as long, but it was recent.  Triggers aren't so often as in porn I'm only into a very specific thing, but triggers are out there.  I anticipate the part of stopping fantasizing will be the toughest.  I've done that since as long as I can remember.

Thanks for reading.  More later.

Anton.

Hey Anton,

Hop on to YourBrainOnPorn.com and get acquainted with what's going on with your brain. It's a great starting point.

If you got on to porn at the age of 24, you have a pretty good chance of a good recovery. We are all here for that, so you will find plenty of support.

I think this is day three.  Not mastrubating hasn't been a problem at all.  That probably won't ache until week three.  Looking at porn hasn't been a problem either.  Its the fantasizing that's been an issue.  The first day and second day it wasn't that difficult to either not have thoughts or shove them away, but today it was much harder.  I'm trying not to have a self-punitive attitude, but that's also hard.

I expect this'll go in waves.  It'll be easier some days, harder others.

It is good that you see you have a probelm and are rebooting. Your significant other is worth more than any porn or fantasy and its great that she is helping you with this. It took me losing my girlfreind to realize I needed to quit.
I found if you can get through the first two weeks without PMO, the whole process becomes much easier.

Hi Markos,

Sorry to read about your losing your girlfriend.  I imagine that was tough.  No, my wife has been extremely patient with me.  So far, the only real difficulty has been fantasizing, which I don't seem to be able to stop doing... at least on some days.  I felt a brief desire to watch porn, but it passed pretty quickly.

Thanks,

Anton.

Fantasizing has been up, but I haven't relapsed ith porn watching or masturbation.  Funy thing is, out of my massive collection, I really only miss a few moments.  But boy do I miss them.  I foresee no real trouble with continuing to not masturbate or watch porn, but not fantasizing is so hard.
