Avoiding morning relapse?

Hello all! So I relapsed this morning, after what would have been 4th day in the streak, and it was due to a combo of morning wood  and the horniness that coems with that and some sexual fantasies... I thought I would be strong enough to just not do it, and I'm still not sure why I decided to just give in, I guess the pleasure was just too tempting..

At any rate, my goal is to go the whole 2016 clean and I am starting today, so I would like to know some good tips to dealing with morning urges and fantasies, that seems to be when Im most vulnerable

Hi, Pisces. You can find several tips on my journal's front page (links), but some things I can say now:

This all boils down to habit:

A. Urge and response = habit.

B. Urge and [change up, or abstain from] response (repeatedly) = changed habit.

Do something different. Sure, you wake up with morning wood, that just means you're healthy. Have a reminder somewhere that you can see it immediately upon awakening that reminds you of your goals. Don't make it judgmental, though. Something that is urgent, but gentle. It could be a note you write to yourself, it could be a reminder wrist band, something... Or, you can even have a prerecorded message to yourself to wake you as an alarm, a pep-talk of some kind.

It's also about building up confidence in your power of choice again, as it's eroded since your bad habits. Set up small goals for yourself, it doesn't even have to be related to this- but prove to yourself that you can decide something, and stick with it. Move this into the area of porn/masturbation, setting small goals at first.

It's great that you want to stay away from it for 2016, and this is certainly possible- but break up 2016 into smaller bites (four 3-month goals?), or even smaller, whatever will do it. Right now, it may be too monumental a task, and you'd set yourself up for failure.

take cold shower first thing in the morning. before you go to sleep, put your clothes in the bathroom and in the morning go straight for the cold shower. last thing on your mind will be to think about anything arousing when that freezing cold water hits you. go as cold as your shower thing (how it is called) allows you and stay with it. i know it is going to be difficult, even after almost 2 months its still uncomfortable for me. you will shake, scream and feel good afterwards  8)

I had this habit of masturbating after waking up and before going to sleep not long after my first masturbation ever.
I kicked this habit by sheer will power.

I can tell you that I thought I could never get rid of these rituals and persisting seemed like a big battle. But I can tell you no matter how long you have been doing this you will kick the habit and forget about it sooner than you think.
The first week of abstinence is difficult and crucial but after that you will be good.

And once again... I relapsed, but this time, it was moreso experimental..

I noticed that just getting up out of my bed helps a ton...something about lying in bed makes it 10x harder, but it's like when I get up and out, my urges subside tremendously. But I got back in my bed to test myself further and eventually caved in... *sigh*.. it's like lying in bed with the urges, the longer you lie there, they jsut fester... and for me, I only ever learned to masturbate prone (i.e. rubbing dick on mattress)- so for me, jsut lying with my stomach faced down can be enough of a trigger ..

once again testing turned out to be bad idea. the funny part is that if you are not testing your erection with real partner, it is not testing  :)

problem is not in morning wood, i had morning wood and PIED at the same time. i could get it up on the bus, i could get it up any time in any way except with the girl. the problem is not in having erection without a partner, its in having the erection WITH the partner. so if you have erection in all scenarios without a partner, you may still have PIED. you are not testing yourself.

its okay though, just next time you want to experiment/test yourself, makes sure it counts  8)
