Tips on fighting the urge.

Hey guys, my longest time w/o porn was like 2 months. Then I relapsed hard for like a week, then I tried to quit and I stayed clean for like 2 weeks, then relapsed again, then went clean 5 days and I relapsed again today. I'm aware of the urge, while I'm doing it I try to force myself to not do it but I just do, the urge is too strong and even if i'm able to stop when I think I should I stay horny all day and end up doing it later. I need serious tips on how to fight this urge, how to distract the mind, how to escape this. I've quit cocaine use and cigs but porn and overall masturbation has been way too difficult.

I’m really new to this, so I’m no expert. But I’ll just share the things that have started to work for me.

For me, there’s a time of day where I get the urge because there’s an opportunity and it’s nighttime. My wife goes to bed and I have privacy. So, I’ve had to do things to make sure I have a routine at night that’s different.

- could be working out at night
- could be planning a show I want to watch

I also have stopped drinking because it lowers my inhibition and ability to say no.

Your pattern of relapse, abstaining, relapse, abstaining is common. It’s happened to me too, and it makes you feel like shit.
First of all, what are your triggers? What is it that sparks that filthy urge to look at porn? Find out what is and tell us.
As for distracting your mind when do get urges, you’ll need something to focus on like a hobby or a passion you have. Throw yourself completely into this, I mean COMPLETELY. Absorb yourself in it so much that thoughts of porn cannot even enter your mind. If you don’t have anything currently in your life like this then look for one! Find a new hobby, a game, a sport anything. It’s a big help.
Also journaling your experiences helps a great deal, there’s a journal section of this forum for that purpose. Get all that bullshit out of your head and onto the page.
Porn isn’t worth all this trouble.

Get a cat or a pigeon, this way, when ur wife is sleep, u have these animals to tackle ig. Also give the password of ur phone/laptop to ur wife, this way when she sleeps if the urge come, u simply lock it once and u can;t unlock it for the whole night, and when she wakes up, then u know where to go to satisfy ur self, and afterwards get access to your phone/laptop.
