How long until start seeing significant changes?

When I am a bit horny when I wake up sometimes I test my erection briefly. I dont edge or anything. Is this setting me back? This lack of progress after 5 weeks makes me think my problem is hopeless :(

If you can test this without fully masturbating AND without thinking of anything porn related it shouldnt be a problem, just dont go all the way.
The time these reboots take vary wildly, you might be one of the unfortunate ones that take many months or you could just be a slow starter. Dont lose hope yet.

This is what we call F-E-A-R, which stands for "false evidence appearing real."  I would suspect that everyone who is in the process of a reboot and has not yet experienced progress in their ED or whatever worries at some point whether it is hopeless -- because it is human nature to be impatient for something that we have been trying to achieve, particularly when it is important to us.

The lack of progress after 5 weeks means exactly this -> you have not had progress (or the progress you want) after 5 weeks.  It means nothing in terms of whether you will experience recovery when you have been porn free for the right time.  And you won't know for certain what that time is -- until you hit it.  As William has pointed out above, everyone is different.

So don't let your mind go to these negative thoughts and worries about what might or might not happen and when.  (As someone who is a bit obsessive, I tend to do that to also.)  Just stay on the path and be patient and be confident that if you continue the program, you will eventually have success.

I.guess I.need to just try to.not be too obsessive. This may be a longer reboot and I need to.accept that. And try to. Be optimistic. Almost at 40 days hard mode!!! Libido is starting to.come back!

40 days hard mode complete!!!' Knock on wood but I think I am noticing my erection s are a little bit harder :) trying to stay strong and have a pos attitude! Hope everyone is doing the same

Gambit, I think you and I are both in the same boat: pretty serious PIED that's gonna take some time and work to overcome. So stay dedicated and get to 90 days. I just wanted to say I understand what you are going through when seeing posts from guys who are like 'wow, 13 days no PMO and I'm a stud again!!!' I figure, it's natural for these guys to get excited about great moments and post about successes and I'm happy for them. But probably the majority of guys are slogging along like us between 3 and 9 weeks without much change and of course they are not posting because there is not too much to talk about. So, I bet you are not the oddball out from making big progress, I bet you are in the majority of guys who are putting their days in and whose brains are slowly figuring things out. Just thought I'd pass that along. Hope it helps give a little perspective.

Well i hit a milestone today. 45 days hardmode complete so I am half way there. And this after 30 days of soft mode (reduce masturbation but no porn). So I have thrilled to be half way...but I still am yet to see real results. A handful of days in the last 45 days I noticed my erections were a bit harder. I get morning wood every now and then. But nothing to write home about :(. I am getting kind of frustrated particularly because I after a month of the soft mode I appeared to be cured of my ED but then MOd a few times then went back to square 1 with the ED and hit a flatline (prompting me to go 90 days hard mode to see if I can kick this ED once and for good). I am losing hope here. Or maybe I should be gearing up for 6 month or longer reboot :(. Although my PIED seems not to be nearly as bad as a lot of people like Gabe's but still bad enough to prevent me from penetrating most of the time. Advice anyone? Do most people see the most results toward the second half of their reboot? libido has come back and I am out of the flat line but not much noticeable difference in my erections (I test in the morning when I am horny for like 2 minutes but maybe I shouldn't do this?) Advice Much appreciated.
 
Hey, I?m in the same boat you?re in.  I entered my reboot already in Flatline, and I?m twenty-something days into my 90-Day Hard Mode reboot.  For me, it?s the only way.

I?m going to give you the same advice I?m giving myself - remain patient, and quit obsessing about this rebooting thing. You?re ministering to your dick in this flatline-thing like it?s a sick patient.  It?s not a sick patient, it?s a resting and recovering body part. 

Another piece of advice: you, along with just about everybody else in this predicament, have made this 90-day thing the Holy Grail of PIED Recovery. It?s not.  Results will vary depending on user.  If I were you, I would do yourself a favour and double your Holy Grail to 180 days.  Not necessarily in full Hard Mode; after the first 90 days, you might decide to bring back naked time to orgasm with your girlfriend for example, but think of your recovery going well beyond the "90 DAYS!!!? 

If you get to 90 days and you see no discernible improvement, you?re going to be disappointed.  On the other hand, if you project to 180 days and beyond, and you experience definite and consistent improvement before that time, then that?s just an unexpected bonus to you! 

Lastly, listen to William?s repeated assurance - as time goes on, and for as long as you remain in Hard Mode, all these questions that are coming up will have no more relevance.  Stop letting your mind pick at you like fingers on a score scab.  Just stop it.  Let time do its work, let everyday life occupy your waking thoughts and come back and post here on this forum whenever you?re feeling down and weak, or whenever you?re needing encouragement from others.  Be prepared too, to offer encouragement to others.

I found that the 2nd half of my reboot is quite a bit better than the first (although that might as well be the performance anxiety fading), the insomnia is almost entirely gone and I can get hard enough to have sex. Not sure what advice I can give other than stick to it.
