Today I found a very interesting documentary by the BBC about porn addiction and problems it causes with Britain's youngsters. It is a very forthcoming and open documentary so it also contains some triggers.

It however also contains some very useful information backing all the science done by Gary Wilson and others.
I recommend it to anyone interested.

This was really good.  I watched it yesterday when I found the link on another page.  I'm happy to report I wasn't in as bad of shape as the kid they focused on.  He was triggered to the point where he had to pull over.  I'm glad there are studies being done that bring the problem into reality.  I'd seen an MTV true life episode about it, too.  The brain chemistry continues to fascinate me.

Very interesting studies, thank you Gary.

Especially the second one which still has lots of room for research in this field. I found it intriguing to see that, next to the fact that either the link between frontal cortex and Caudatus is significantly less communicative, this could stem from sheer logic:

Since learning effects as well as the reward seeking (as a part of it) are survival mechanisms, our brain mainly seeks what gives us the reward the easiest way possible. So the pathways strenghten (as already detailed by Gary) and become dominant. Might the reduce in gray matter, which is due to reduced "function/stimulation", also lead to people getting all their sexual rewards from porn and in a very extreme case make them become fulltime voyeurs? Studies in Japan suggest that there is a significant correlation between social networking, cybersex and messaging and the fact that young japanese have less sex and relationships1 which could lead to a decrease in population.
Should this really be the case, it sociologically IS a thread to population - although a Darvinist might say that it again is just selection....
