never to late?

well, I am amazed to find that so many have the same story as I. How come I haven't seen this before, even if I have researched the net before.
I'm 48. "Off course" I have been using porn magazines, videos and so on since I was 10 and surfing the net for porn since 95/96. I was in a relationship until 99 and off course the the use escalated and the problem started 2-3 years later, running for 12-13 years now - I hope it is not to late to do something.

I've had several short term relationships in that period, but I've always backed out before it would get serious. It was possible to anticipate sexual activity and prepare with Viagra. But now, not even pills help. I get erected but it does not last long enough...

In the past I have seeked help, even from my country's no 1 expert. "Stop masturbating".. Kind of good advice, but I couldn't see the big picture. How come the experts are not updated on this and can give information like on this site?

A few weeks ago I decided to do really see if I could figure this out.. is there something physical wrong with me? I don't have any known diseaces like high blood preassure, diabetes, prostate problems etc.. I am of normal weight. I should not have a physical ED problem. Also I had a MR scan of the lower back area to seek out any nerve issue.. nothing. Testosterone is high, though as i've learned; testosterone levels is usually not the cause for ED.

Some way I found Yourbrainonporn and other similar sites where I found "my story" - amazing. Could this really be it?

I'm left with two possible explanations of my ED problem;
- excessive internet porn use
- low blood flow to penis

And I am sure I am at least guilty to the first.
As for the second, This week i will be starting a treatment program:
"Shockwave treatment of erectile dysfunction"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCXx6EVBQkE
(I've talked to my doctor/sexologist about this and it was regarded a promising method based on tests - and recommended that I try)

- Anyone tried this treatment?

I'm now 2 weeks into the recovery process. Guess it is way to early to expect results, but I'm hoping for the best.

MAGS, I bet on behalf of everyone here we all say "we hope so!" :)  This is a an affliction that has affected all here in different ways, who knows what in us will straighten up by rebooting and getting our lives on an even keel again.  Good luck and keep the forum notified of your progress.

To the 40+ men i have a couple of question:

According to Gary Wilson, the recovery for this age group is anticipated to be a lot shorter than the "All-high-speed-porn-generation"..
Around 2 months (13:50 into this video:)

- Anyone feel they have significant changes in only 2 months?

also,
- most of what I read is focused on teens/young adults.. Anyone have link to more resources for the 40+?

Hey Mags,

I am 45, and i am at day 155 of NO P & NO M.

don't miss it, don't want it, and could care less.

Suffering from PIED tho - still.  Seeing small signs that perhaps i have hit the bottom and i am on the way up.

I have not tried anything special - eating better, exercise but that is about it.

It is a process, and it can take some time to work its way through.

Good Luck, and hang tough.

Day 18..
No PMO and not really any urge to do it.
Still patient - waiting for the rewire crew in my brain to do their job.

My advice is to not look for a magic number to be recovered.
Just take it and focus one day at a time.
There will be good days and bad days.
Fight the urge and have faith

Day 19...

Still off PMO. I did it when I was bored, before going to sleep, commersial breaks on TV ... so, pretty much whenever I had some time to kill.

Though I'm sure PMO is the main factor for my PIED (it sure has been an obsession),
I'm not going to just wait this out. I need to explore any safe option. I have no more time to waste. God knows I have wasted enough time watching P and doing MO.

So today I had a "Shockwave treatment" at my doctor; to increse bloodflow. Will do so for 4 weeks (2 treatments a week)
I'm trying this togheter with no PMO and hoping for good joint results.
If this is of interest for you, I'll post here on the progress - feel free to comment.

Day 21:
No PMO but V aided SO.

Viper, the Shockwave treatment (see link in the my first post).
The purpose is to increase the blood flow. Shockwaves should cause new blood vessels to develop.

I'll have the 2nd treatment this tuesday.
The treatment cost at my location is $2700 (12 sessions).

About the shockwave treatment,
I've had 4 sessions now, 5th tomorrow.
Yes, I do feel changes. What I experience is:
- The P size is like it previously would be after a hot shower.. all the time ; no shrinkage, softer and more volume. I guess this is becase of better blood flow.

- I get erections without watching porn, I've experienced this in the shower and sometimes its just happening. These are not full erections, but I feel the growth.

- Morning wood, somtimes full and once lasting for 15min.. sometimes partial. The last 10 years this almost never have happened.

I haven't risked trying sex without V.. not that confident jet :)

Still I'm wating for that full spontanius erection and regular MW.
It's early in the treatment (4 of 12) so I can't say if the changes I've experienced is lasting or how successfull it will be when completed.
The doctor says that pasients usually feels a difference between 4 and 7 treatments. Some stops after 9 treatments because the think the result is satisfying.. (Maybe also because of the cost?). I will complete the treatment no matter what.  9 treatments now, 2 weeks pause and then the last 3.

And off course, no PMO.

Let me know if you want to follow my progress, and I will give you more updates.

You can just jot down your progress here.
That's what the journal is for and this is totally related to the subject matter.

But thanks for explaining that.
