A fix

Just read another interesting metaphor. I suspect most of us PAs have other emotional/mental issues. Many of us have sought help from therapists to varying degrees of success.

I've been reading about physical manifestations of adverse childhood experiences, and that "Trying to cure the heart with the head is like trying to paint with a hammer- it just makes a mess."

Certainly there is a place for talk therapy in addiction recovery, but there are treatments geared to the physical, such as: EMDR and neurofeedback. If cognitive therapy hasn't helped much, you might consider looking into one of these.
