Trick to Avoid Porn

I have a trick I use to avoid the temptation to PMO and it may be useful to only a few of you. I am on a cocktail of doctor-prescribed sleep aids (nothing as powerful as Ambien or Lunesta-- basically we're talking about mild sedatives here). It's my goal to one day wean myself off these meds and just fall asleep naturally. But for now, I can tell you that when I take these five or six pills, within 20 minutes I get so sleepy that I often have to drag myself into the bathroom to brush my teeth. So if I have had any PMO urges at all during the evening, I make sure to take my pills... even take them a little earlier than usual. In so doing,  I get so sleepy there's no way I could even hold my head up to look at the computer screen.

Please don't get me wrong. I am certainly NOT advocating the use of sleep aids and would definitely NOT want anyone to start them for the purpose I'm mentioning. BUT if you happen to be on a regimen anything like mine, you might want to add it to your toolbox for avoiding porn.

A trick I recommend for avoiding PMO is changing your daily routine in small ways.  For decades I would turn on my shower water, let it warm up before getting in, and promptly pound the pud after washing my hair.  Then one day the pilot light went out in the water heater so that I had to take cold showers three days in a row before I got it relit.  The cold water completely distracted me from my usual shower routine which meant no fap.  On the fourth day when the hot water was restored, I realized that I hadn't even thought about masturbating for three days.  Now when I feel like I want to start off my morning with masturbation I take a cold shower--totally redirects my thoughts.

Old timer... your story is funny in a way, but if it works, then great! I think that any kind of trick that gets you to kick start a new habit or break an old habit is fine. To help the new, healthier neural pathways get a start, sometimes the brain needs to be jolted out of its routine.
