How do I know if I need a reboot and other questions

Hello everybody,

I'm a 22 year old guy who has had issues with porn and masturbation for around 8 years now. There were stages in my life where I masturbated excessively but that has never really reflected badly on my sex life and I never really got into any strange porn genres. I don't have any problems with getting an erection or any of that.
I have, however, had issues with prone masturbation and I find it difficult to masturbate the normal way.

My questions are:
1. This may sound strange but how do I know if I am addicted? How do I know if i need a full reboot? What are the warning signs that I should look out for in somebody with a case like mine where there's no PIED or DE?
2. I've stopped p and m for over a week now but I still find myself unable to masturbate the normal way. Is this normal? I can only really masturbate in the prone position. How much longer should I wait?
3. I hate condoms and find sex very difficult in them. Is this normal or could this be a result of my prone masturbation problem?
4. Does moisturising the penis with e45 or whatever really help retrieve sensitivity?

You know your addicted to porn if you try and give up porn and can't. A healthy non addicted guy should have zero problems staying away from porn.

Other symptoms of excessive porn use would be:

  • Increased anxiety and/or social anxiety.
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating.
  • difficulty reaching orgasm with a partner.
  • Morphing porn tastes. Over time what you are watching changes to more extreme/shocking material. This is a result of your brain becoming numb and needing a bigger neurochemical hit to feel the same level of excitement.
  • You become dependent on using porn in order to fall asleep.

If you feel like some of those might describe you, then a reboot can't hurt to try.

2. I've stopped p and m for over a week now but I still find myself unable to masturbate the normal way. Is this normal? I can only really masturbate in the prone position. How much longer should I wait?

Prone masturbation problems have been called Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome (TMS) and a reboot can help, and after a while you might have to train your brain and body to respond to normal touch by re-wiring. It works just like rebooting. Give yourself a complete rest to regain sensitivity and let addiction/prone pathways weaken, then if you don't recover with abstinence alone then you may have to start re-wiring and teaching your body to respond to normal touch.

With that said, I feel your problem may be porn related also, but I'm not certain.

3. I hate condoms and find sex very difficult in them. Is this normal or could this be a result of my prone masturbation problem?

This is very normal for guys with porn induced sexual dysfunctions and porn addicts. I could barely feel anything with a condom on at one point before rebooting. Actually, to be honest I couldn't feel anything with a beautiful girl giving me head. I was really numbed. You're not alone.

4. Does moisturising the penis with e45 or whatever really help retrieve sensitivity?

No clue. I've heard contradicting reports. For me my sensitivity came back with a reboot. A very long reboot. It took me 15 months before I could get it up to touch alone.

Hope that helps man. I encourage you to at least stick with a reboot and see what happens. It can't hurt and you can always go get checked with doc and if you check out fine continue on the reboot.

Much love and welcome to the Nation!

Thank you very much for taking time out to answer my questions. Your video on YouTube was actually what led me to this website community. Thanks a lot
