Software and Technology Tools to make using more difficult

Hi All,

I wanted to get some suggestions on apps and software to make it hard for me to access porn on my devices. I have an Iphone 6 and a Chromebook. I currently have safe search turned on on the Iphone 6 and screentime is locked out with a password which I do not know. This seems to work pretty good although there are a few workarounds where I can see some images if I try hard enough. Does anyone know of a global app that will block access to images and videos without screwing up my other apps? Other suggestions or ideas people have ?

For the Chromebook, guest browsing is a problem. I can log off and go to guest browsing and none of my safe search controls are active and it is wide open. I'd like to use the Chromebook but I don't have the willpower unless I can really stop that.

Open to any ideas or suggestions for limiting access.

If you're looking for a fun project that will require learning and building some basic technical skills, you could setup a pi-hole:

Pi-hole – Network-wide Ad Blocking

pi-hole.net

The idea here is: the pi-hole connects to your router/cable modem, and then all of the devices in your home (computer, cell phone, smart tv, chromebook, roomba, whatever) connect through the pi-hole, which can manage blocklists for advertising and porn. This works around devices that don't as easily let you install content blockers by chopping it off at the network level.

Hi,

I´m currently using BlockSite the paid version. I paid 55 Australian dollars for a lifetime, and it´s helping me pretty good so far.
I blocked the adult category in general, so it blocks off the most sites, also blocked a list of random search words that I used in google during my relapse, so i can´t use these words anymore in the searchbar.
It has an option that makes it impossible to delete the app without a password (which I don't know), just like all the other options.
long story short, I can't access anything without this password. I also blocked out apps like FB and IG, which i think are a part of the problem.
I got the app on my laptop and phone, there's probably ways around it but I don't know, since I'm not that great with technology.

Edit: while writing this message I thought about bypassing it with a VPN, which I used to bypass things in the past, but also the VPN doesn't grand me access!

Thanks Leopold - I have thought about using that and it sounds like it might work for me too. Totally agree that FB and IG are part of the problem! I am going to check it out!
