Who knew they were addicted?

I PMO'd regularly from age 20 to 38.
I always knew I had developed a lower sex drive and occasional ED with partners but never knew porn was the cause. I thought it was unhealthy lifestyle and just who I was.

4 weeks ago I saw a random tiktok video that said quitting porn will improve your life.

I researched and found this website and others.

I did quit that day and my entire outlook on life has changed. My sex life has lifted off.

Before I post my whole story I'm interested to see if anyone else the same unknown addiction as I.

Welcome, Vaper.

Having an addiction is confusing.

Personally, I knew I was addicted to porn a long time ago. It started off with me thinking "I have a problem" but after years with "a problem" I realized I didn't know how to solve the problem. And the problem got worse. And worse. And worse.

I did some research, read "Your Brain On Porn" and got help from a psychologist. Yet, the addiction still had me in its grips. Even though I knew I had a porn addiction, it took me several frustrating years to finally realize I had to crush the addiction once and for all. I'm just a few days away from 6 months clean.

This is pretty much the same story as mine, even down to seeing that tiktok and coming here. I never associated my porn habits with my ED, but I get it now. So happy to know I can focus and get a healthy sex life thanks to this site.

Good work TryingHarder.

The weird thing is that although my use spanned many years I haven't found it difficult to stop. It recent years with my increase is personal social media use, I had triggers which would usually be a suggestive video of some sort. So I've quit SM too which I think helps things.

Keep up the good work!

8eight8, I'm glad you replied with your story.
Tiktok great for somethings, but not others. That's the kind of Social media that would trigger me to PMO.

I had put a bit of weight on in recent years and become quite stressed in work. My work is mentally demanding and desk based.
In the time since I've quit I have laser focus and an increased sex drive and joined a gym!

I am completely and utterly aghast at how PMO had messed with my brain, hormones etc. I'm not stupid - but I feel it for not realising sooner!

Awesome, the gym is a great place to get lhysically healthier and practice some mindfulness while working out. Great job and keep up the good work!

Yeah, there’s not enough control over content on tiktok so I just removed it altogether too due to PMO. Same thing with Snapchat and Twitter, gone. I’m finding I got a good handle on like Facebook and Instagram, but I might find I just log off of those soon here altogether too.
