I’m just being honest, I’m starting think people don’t recover from this. I’m not trying to be negative but I’m reading a bunch experiences of people taking years and years to recover. I am definitely loosing hope no lie. I never had depression issues until I stopped PMO. It’s definitely ruined my life. I’m sure a lot of lives have been ruined.

I really empathize with this. The first thing we need to admit is that porn addiction itself can create symptoms of depression. And I believe many people, including myself, have observed significant changes in mood and anhedonia during the different phases of recovery. So what we can say for sure, is that the neurochemical interplay from addiction and recovery seems to have a profound effect on this.

Of course, you could always try and assess any underlying issues of depression, which might contributed and caused this addiction (with the help of a psychotherapist/psychiatrist). However, such route can also be long and requires a lot of effort, whether we're talking about therapy, psychoanalysis or trials of medications.

In all cases, we need to be patient. I would also like to be more optimistic, but it's true that we don't find many success stories here often, as much as people suffering for years and years. I wonder whether people that really recover and start living a healthy and happy life, are typically the ones without any major emotional or psychological issues to begin with...
