Giving help and receiving help

"Anyone who gives help also receives help and needs to teach what he has learned. This is why he sits by the fire and recounts his day on the battlefield." – Paulo Coelho

Addicts in recovery frequently sit by the fire and share our success and struggles. It is important to recognize that the help...is not one directional. The old timer guides the newcomer. In return, the newcomer reminds the old timer the importance of the work. The addict who struggles reminds the addict who has sobriety the ever-present risk of relapse. In return, the addict with sobriety provides hope to the addict who struggles.

Just wanted to post this as some food for thought for newcomers and old timers alike on this board. Reboot Nation has been a very valuable resource for me over the past 9 months of staying clean from porn. Sharing our stories "around the fire" is good for everyone here. A deep thank you to @Gabe Deem and everyone else who manages this place.
