Abstract​

Incels (involuntary celibates) are an online subculture community of men who form an identity around their perceived inability to form sexual or romantic relationships. They attribute their lack of success to genetic factors, evolved mate preferences, and social inequities. While we have a deep ancestral history of incels, the modern incel community is an evolutionarily novel group that fosters a shared victimhood identity. We applaud Lindner for an important contribution to the scant literature on incels and highlight the importance of her evolutionary psychological lens in understanding their grievances. Our critique of Lindner’s work addresses two key issues. Firstly, we challenge the hypothesis that incels engage in simulated coalitional bargaining for sexual access. While coalitional bargaining for sexual access may have played a role in ancestral populations of involuntarily celibate men, this is not a suitable analysis of modern incels. Instead, the incel community operates as a fatalistic echo-chamber, where failure is celebrated, and individuals discourage each other from pursuing romantic success. Secondly, we critique the association between incels and violence. Contrary to common beliefs, empirical evidence suggests that incels are not particularly prone to violence. Incels’ propensity for violence appears relatively low compared to that of the general population. We conclude by offering one hypothesis as to why modern day incels are not as violent as we might expect. The Male Sedation Hypothesis, that online virtual worlds, such as pornography, may pacify the potential for violence among sexless young men, providing a counterfeit sense of sexual fulfillment and reducing motivation for real-life mate competition.

They got tired of being treated like shit by women. Don't blame them for turning to porn. I think a great many of porn addicts turned to porn after being mistreated by women nI know that was one of the reasons i turned to it.

I definitely disagree with this.

Incels live with a victim mentality that always blames women for their shit lives, while never looking in the mirror and asking if THEY are possibly the problem. In my estimation, that's just the same as some women (not all of them by the way) NOT taking some responsibility for their men turning to porn, and only "blaming" men. In my opinion, if you're in a relationship, you have to take some responsibility for the others' bullshit. Naturally, It doesn't mean the porn user is off the hook, no, it just means that relationships are complicated, and the situation is not black and white. It's true, some women use sex as a weapon, or use it to manipulate their men, or worse, get caught up in the worst versions of extreme feminism and stop being feminine for their man, while the young twenty year old at the office is still feminine and has an eye for an older man. If women are doing these things, then yes, they're living in just as much as an illusion as their porn watching husbands. Modern political ideologies cannot compete with millions of years of biology. Of course, this doesn't make men acting out, either with porn or in real life, in the right, no, it just shows that the situation is extremely complicated and it can't be blamed on only one partner or sex. Nevertheless, women are not to be completely blamed here, pure and simple. Sure, there's some real bitches out and about, but they're are also equally many many good women in this world who are looking for good men, real men, who don't blame women for their bullshit. It's very easy for us men to "blame" women instead of looking in the mirror and fixing our own problems.

Incels are a product of our shit culture. Us men should live each and every day trying to extricate any of those kind of thoughts from our minds.

In he end, we men attract the women we deserve. And if we keep attracting shity women, well, it's about time to take hard look in the mirror and ask ourselves why.

I suppose I should have said "some men" get tired of being treated like shit. Some are just inept at dealing with women and don't know how to change and some are ignorant and don't feel they should have to change. And than there is the changing society. It's the matrix, man. It's the hidden agenda. Do I believe that this epidemic of Internet porn addiction is more than just an unfortunate event based on the evolution of technology? Yes, absolutely. Do I believe that the free access to all the porn we want is intentional? Yes. Do I believe that they keep creating websites that are porn substitutes? That's right. It's their agenda. One way to control a population is to control the men. And one way to control men is to make them weak, addicted, distracted and crybabies. Is today's young male population a bunch of crybabies, weak and addicted? The majority are. Everyone from teenage years to even 30's is affected to some degree by the agenda. What can be done? I am not that smart to come up with the solution but one of the things we definitely need to do is stop consuming their poison. Stop consuming social media, porn, shit food etc. That's a start.

I think if internet communities like that existed when I was a teenager/early 20s, I would have probably ended up being an 'incel' too - I was very angry and upset that I was always single, all my friends had girlfriends and I didn't, poor me, it's not fair, etc. etc...but since I didn't have reddit to encourage my self-pity, instead I made the effort to change myself (lost weight, got better fashion sense, stopped playing video games all the time etc.), and wouldn't you know it I magically got a girlfriend a few months after that. Too many people today refuse to take responsibility for the consequence of their own poor life choices.

No porn isn't shutting young men out of the dating game, the modern woman's unrealistic standards is shutting young men out of the dating game. Many young men are either withdrawling, choosing to date overseas(i live in the USA) or choosing to focus on other aspects of their lives.
