NO PMO or no novelty?

First of all, I am very sorry for my English.

I have one important question. I remember that Gabe once said or wrote a post that all artificial stimulation is to be avoided and that during his reboot he cut not only porn, but also playing video games, watching TV, surfing internet and even listening to music. What is the biggest problem for our brain? Porn or all artifical stimmulation? I cut porn but I spend a lot of time watching youtube, surfing internet adn watching TV. Is this kind of activity slowing my progress? I don't see any postitive changes during my reboot - no morning wood, no better memory, nothing and I am starting to worry why is that.

Thank you for your response
Peter

Hi Peter. A porn addiction is also an internet addiction. If you think about it, the whole world spends too much time scrolling, looking, scrolling. So even though you might not be looking at porn or porn substitutes, you're still locked into addictive behaviour with artificial stimulation. So I would say be cautious and do your best to spend less time on the internet unless you're doing something specific (shopping, paying bills, finding information).

I speak from experience! I still struggle with staying away from the internet and falling into the weird trap of scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. What am I looking for? If I don't have a good answer, I try my best to walk away and do something else.

PS: Your English is great!

Hi @Peter86 - I echo what @TryingHarder says, there needs to be less dopamine in our lives = what seems like boredom. And getting used to that is not easy. I don necessarily subscribe to the view that you have to stop watching TV, but we all probably know what’s obsessive and what isn’t. I am 62 years old so not a gamer for instance, but someone who watched porn and replacing it by playing video games for hours is rather asking for trouble.

I found that cutting out masturbation more than once a month was the biggest thing and made my brain change most dramatically. Good luck. It’s a hard slog, but SO worth it.

Thank you very much. I am going to cut all artifical stimulation or at least limit time that I spend on internet or television. I hope this will be a gamechanger. I will come back here after couple of weeks or months to tell you if anything changed. If so, maybe this will be also a solution for other guys who are struggling with severe pied and long flatline.
