Hey everyone.

I'm new to the community.  I randomly found this site on the internets.

I've been watching porn for about 13 years now.  It's never affected me before.  Strange how it took this long?  I'm 25 years old and college educated.

For the past 2 years though I've been having ED on and off. Never with Porn though.  Watching porn I would get an erection 100% of the time.

In this past 2 years, I narrowed down what could be the source without the knowledge of internet porn addiction.  I figured porn must be the issue as I was clearly not experiencing ED in all aspects of life.

I've tried to stop watching porn on my own but for some reason I just cannot shake it, regardless of how much I'd like to.  It's a stress reliever.

I've broken up with 2 different girls during this time, they have no idea I watch porn.  I'm really wondering if I broke up with these girls BECAUSE of my porn addiction.  That would certainly be ineresting.

I've decided not to find another girlfriend until I kick this habit.

Reading everyones stories is really interesting as its comforting knowing others have had this issue and have overcome it.

I always thought addicts were these "strange" people with "problems".. And I kind of cast them to the side thinking they were delinquents.  Not knowing I was creating my own addiction.  It really sheds a new light on addicts for me, and I can understand that "urge" that they feel.

Nobody in my life knows of this issue, as it really has not impacted my life noticeably (people break up all the time).

I wouldn't mind having someone else to talk to in regards to this situation.

If you would like feedback and people to share with I would recommend you starting a journal, plenty of people communicate with each other in journals  :D

Recommend having a bed buddy at least for cuddling and just being close - it is healthy and speeds up the process.  Avoid MO in addition to PMO. and take cold baths

Why do people keep talking about cold baths/showers?  haha What does this do?

Cold baths or showers have been proven to be a great way to activate your body's hormetic systems. It is a process that, overtime, can help addicts reverse addiction related changes to the brain like D2 receptor depletion. When you engage in highly pleasurable activities like watching porn everyday, your brain has a tendency to compensate by turning down the pleasure dial. Neurons attempt to protect themselves from damage by reducing dopamine receptors, causing a slower transmission of dopamine and an overall feeling like everyday pleasures just don't satisfy you (i.e. sex.)

When you take a cold shower, your body kicks in a process called thermogenesis which puts your body into a state of shock where your brain is deprived of dopamine for a period of time. Think of it as the opposite of addiction; when you get high amounts of dopamine your brain downregulates receptors, but when you purposefully lower your dopamine the brain will upregulate receptors. This process essentially resensitizes the brain.

In short, addiction is short term pleasure followed by long term pain. Hormesis is short term pain followed by long term pleasure.

Whoooooooooops.  So it's been 2 weeks.  I MO'd once about 6 days in, no P,  But last night I PMO'd once, then MO'd once.  It's really hard not to MO for a long time.  How do people do it?!

My erection was harder with P than without P.  It's pretty clear to me that P is very bad.

I'm not terribly mad at myself for PMOing last night but I did think I'd be able to last longer than 2 weeks.  It's certainly better than almost every day.

Now I have to beat 2 weeks.. haha
