I lately summed up the time I spent on P and related sources of dopamine kicks...then I though about what wonderful things I could have done instead - things that are actually worth the time, because they have a positive effect for the rest of the day. In my opinion these are the things we should do as a replacement, generally spoken.
Didn't you want to fix *whatever*? Do it! You now have the time for it, because there is something that does not take up time anymore. Didn't you always say you wanted to start skating, biking, hiking, freeclimbing....? Now is the time!
This is the way I see it. A time spot has become free. We always complain that one day only has 24 hours and that there were sooo many things we'd like to do. Now we have the opportunity to actually do these things
whatever there is for you!
Of course we do not always want to do "useful" stuff. Watching P has sometimes been like watching stupid TV. Just lay back and enjoy. When I have the urge to do something like that, I allow myself to find a replacement that is as stupefying but has less bad influence on my brain. --> Computer games. Maybe not the addictive ones like WoW, but strategy games or card games or something.
