Another thing that makes porn so hard to resist

I've been clean for about 5 weeks now and have resisted most urges.

Today was the closest I had come to a relapse but I was able to resist and make it through the urge.

The thing that makes it so darn irresistible to me is that with porn I would be able to see (and trick myself into "experiencing") things that I would never in a thousand years experience unless I made my way into a club or nightlife that was filled with other sex addicts (and even the possibility that I'd find any such club seems very remote).

It almost feels as though I'm missing out on extreme sex experiences (even though I'd never actually have the experience anyway).

Yeah porn is made to be as addictive as possible. The people making it know just what we want to see and just what to show in order for us to get hooked. Amateur porn, i assume, is just trying to copy that. The fact that we can in a sense participate in such unreal experiences makes it highly addictive.
But with all the trouble porn has got me into im sure i never want those experiences!

another sneaky thing I've found myself doing is browsing craigslist personal ads...

While it's simply pictures and they're usually not the most attractive people,  can feel my body warming up in response to the stimuli.

Yea, I know what you mean, I logged on to a huge dating site and it completely freaked me out. Although there wasn't porn involved, this site was hyper-sexualised and my inner addict became VERY interested (flushed face, excitement etc.) I guess during reboot I must let go of anything that gets me so excited, even if it is not exactly what I did when I acted out with P. My brain begs for dopamine big time. I deleted my profile. Phew. I can't go for any nudity right now. Or excitement of that kind. P is more than movies. It seems to be everywhere for me. So I'd better watch out. Good luck to you.

Thanks... I haven't looked at porn or masturbated but I am still struggling with Craigslist ad browsing and responding to posts..

I haven't heard back from most of the posts I respond to but I know I'm violating the whole point and exposing a sex addiction rather than just a Porn addiction..

Time to beat that now ...
