hey there
I too have played video games most of my life - and as part of my commitment to a successful reboot I have stopped playing them, on-ine, console what ever - I stopped with gaming. While I can't say it is required to quit, video games - especially on-line pc games can be construed as a gateway to porn. I personally accept this notion, and that by quitting video games it has had a positive affect on my giving up P & M, and being successful. I believe there is a sub-conscience link between the fantasy created in video games and the fantasy we create with porn. Not a scientist, not a therapist, but if you are sitting there most of the day playing games, or late at night - I would think that you would have issues with relapsing and delaying your reboot.
This is one easy area to address - in my humble opinion - that can assist in being successful. Give up the games, find something else to do with your time - exercise, read, go outside. Give your thumbs a break.
Now this has helped me be successful in staying completely away from P & M. And by staying away from P & M, I am always one day closer to recovering fully from PIED - so with this line of thinking, yes avoiding video games will help you recover from PIED.
Are video games bad or evil? No of course not. But as with anything - moderation, moderation, moderation. Unless of course you game at night and then P & M at night then you need to avoid the gaming, and the senario.
Hope this helps some.
