Be grateful

Im sick of seeing so many posts by people without ED or DE complaining about how porn ruined their lives. By asking for help you are basically a patient with a scraped knee at the hospital seeking help before those with gunshot wounds. People with serious dysfunctions should be the focus of this website. You don't know how lucky you are.

Well I get what are you saying, but don't discredit their problems. Other effects of porn addiction can cause trouble in everyday life too. And those with that kind of problem should feel safe to open up and speak about it. That's why we have ED/DE section and Porn addiction section.

My girlfriend always discredits her suffering (anxiety and such) because people are suffering so much more elsewhere on the planet. But it makes no sense. Everyone suffers and you cannot measure the suffering and compare it.
I've been feeding my addiction for around 15 years, yet I try not to discredit guys who have been addicted for barely 5 years.
We're all in this together, and if they managed to catch their addiction before it caused damage, then I say good for them! I wish I had!

The effects of porn don't necessarily always take form in erectile dysfunction! There are plenty of people who have reported very serious and life changing benefits outside of erectile dysfunction.

True, they might not know what it is like to be impotent...but they are likely here because of serious problems in their life, and they deserve to be taken seriously. We're all fighting the same fight!

I could not agree more.  Porn causes different problems for everyone, and it can also cause different problems for the same person over time.  Just because someone isn't suffering ED now does not mean that porn is not impacting them in a negative way that should be addressed.  Furthermore, as we know, the effects of porn use can accumulate, so just because someone does not have ED or whatever currently, does not mean that they will not suffer from it in the future.

Importantly, porn also effects our relationships with other people, and our attitude towards women and life in general (and with God if you are a person of faith).  The impact on relationships and attitudes is something every porn user needs to address, IMO.

I think there is enough energy among all of us here to aid anyone who comes to this forum needing help, and I'm bothered by the notion that we don't need to worry about helping some people.

This is one of the saddest things I have read - really motivational stuff though - thanks for the post man

It just goes to show that porn reaches its filthy tentacles to many other aspects of life besides ED OR PE. Its a psychological godzilla, or mothra, destroying everything in its path.
This forum shouldnt be only for those who suffer from the physical/sexual problems of porn abuse, and it is sheer ignorance and stupidity to suggest otherwise. This is a place of support and recovery for anyone. There is no one problem that is worse than the other.

I know at least 2 people who have been fired for watching porn at work.  It's hard to screw your life up much worse than that.

My first internet access was at work around 1995.  We did not even have modern web browsers.  I can't recall what we used, but it was before Mosaic was around and might have even been DOS based.  Anyway I found some erotica through Yahoo at the time that I would read at work.  I probably wasn't the only one doing it.  The IT dept sent out a memo to everyone saying knock it off.  No one every said anything directly to me, although one IT person said something to me to the effect of "did that memo scare you?"  I have to assume that they knew what I personally was looking at.  From that point forward, I never looked at internet porn (erotica) at work again.  Even then I would download erotica onto floppy discs at home and bring them to work and read.  That's messed up.  Getting fired for porn would only be the tip of the iceberg.  It could easily destroy a family.

My ex-brother-in-law was (is?) a porn addict and his addiction spread into actual harassment of women (maybe sort of stalking but I don't know all the details).  He actually spent some time in jail because of it.  It led to divorce because he would not stick with counseling.  I have no idea if he had PIED, but even if he did I bet it was the least of his porn induced problems.

I can tell you that porn affects the whole family.  My husband was so withdrawn I thought he wanted a divorce.  There was no ED at that time but then there was sex only a couple of times a month.  However, putting that aside, he did not have fun in life.  He did not enjoy things the way he used to. He sat in his chair.  That was it.  No interaction with people.  Had nothing to do with ED, DE just porn brain.
