Ok guys give me your opinions... Done a lot of reading on your brain on porn. I'm 36yrs old, been masturbating a lot since a teenager... Some porn in my teens, more into my early 20s, then a lot from mid 20s through today. I am planning to go into hard mode, no PMO. I know it will be tough, but when will I start to see the benefits from a PIED standpoint?

Alright Hack1234,

For me, the magic number seems to about 65 days, it cud be less, it could be more, but it will improve.

Let's hope you're right!! I've tried to stop the PMO twice this year but relapsed... My last relapse started as light masturbation to erotica, not even high speed porn... But it led to 5 days of edging for several hours at a time. I need to take a broader definition of what porn is, it's basically any type of visual sexual stimulus. Let's hope I can do it right this time!!

I'm new too. And from the Netherlands. 65 days? I hope I'll make that. Two wears ago I managed it once. After a holiday with little stimuli. Now I'm trying in real life, when there's stress from deadlines of which I search for distraction in porn, I think. Good luck and keep it up!

Best advice I can give (after 30 days, WOOT!) Is to find somewhere to divert you energy and attention. Not other sites or other addictive habits, not drinking, smoking, not swimsuit pics nothing like that. But rather healthy, productive activities. Sports, gym , cleaning reading. It will help you sooo much. Tire yourself out so you don't even think about it. Good luck

Thanks beach guy!! That's what I'm trying to do, feed the good and focus there... Diet, exercise, and staying busy in general... I don't find myself missing porn per say. I find myself missing that dopamine fix that went with it... Just curious if it's really a porn addiction or if the porn/masturbation was a means to get the dopamine levels higher and higher in my body?? Either way I am giving this my best shot, need to take control!! #rebootnation #control

Right on hack...
dopamine is definitely what you will miss, but we aren't supposed to have a constant bombardment of visual stimuli like that, it's not natural, which is why when we are in real natural sexual situations... We are left high and dry, because reality is just not enough anymore.
All that is left is to detox and keep calm and not let our brains trick us into doing something  counterproductive

One day down and on my way to another... Urges are strong, more for MO versus P... Excited about feeling better, starting to live healthier as well. Changed my attitude and environment. Diet, exercise, focus on friendships and home improvement stuff. Been at no PMO since Jan 1st with one bad relapse in March/April... Been really strong in May, not turning back!! Taking control of my life, rather then my addiction controlling me!!!

Alright Hack1234 ;)

The dopamine fix comment caught my attention. I too wondered was I addicted to porn, or just the dopamine. I guess it is the dopamine, but that's true for all addictions as far as I can work out, it's just how you get that fix.

OK quys, dopamine it is, I think. In my case. That's how I explain why it's less hard to be abstinent during holidays (when I get my dopamine from being in the country, visiting museums, walking through the city, etc. I would very much like it if I could manage to have that in regular life. Dopamine from other things than P, I mean.

Yes the Dopamine is the challenge... It's like my body has gotten use to this high and PMO was my drug of choice. Just trying to re-focus myself on enjoying the good feelings that come from no PMO and that greater rewards will come down the road e.g. No PIED... Super difficult right now, my cravings are high... Fighting through it!!
