Other problems with Dopamine

I'm curious here what other kind of problems fell Porn Addicts have faced.. Given the underlying dopamine chemical driving the addiction I suspect others too would have struggled with other dopamine releasing activities???

I have struggled with alcohol abuse (I haven't had a drink in some time), I also easily get sucked in to pot if I'm not careful with it...

I haven't ever had an issue with food addictions though so I guess 2 out of 3 (Sex, Drugs, and Food are the 3 major dopamine drivers right?)

Just curious..

Stay strong!

Interesting question. Personally I can only think of a particular computer game that I used to play excessively (although that's some time ago), which caused a similar dopamine rush. I can now say that I have completely lost interest in computer games and my only dopamine related problem is PMO. From what I experienced during university life I would conclude that a lot of young people, especially females, have a problematic relationship with their mobile phones and social media in general. This might not be as severe as PMO but when asked to fill in the addiction questionaire, I suppose a lot of them would count as "addicted". That's hardly surprising since all over the world millions (or is it billions) are spent by large companies (no names mentioned here) to make the whole internet experience more addictive. The same goes for the gaming industry.

Mine is online video gaming on the international stage. I'm not really addicted to the video game per say, I'm rather addicted to the competitive aspect amongst players at high level.
In term of dopamine release in the brain, I could really compare my video gaming addiction to my porn one. At the very end of a competition to be at the top of the ladder, I remember having some tickling in my brain very similar to what I feel while orgasming to my favourite porn scene. This would drive me crazy because it would cause me to spend most of my time in front of the pc honing my "skills" instead of socializing in the real world. I lost MANY MANY life opportunities because of this.

And I'm not even talking about the fact that I was using porn when not playing during that period of my life. I think I was constantly having dopamine shots throughout the day.

Great replies.. Kind of what I expected.

I can definitely see the dopamine addiction of people and smart phones.. It's actually bordering insane..

I've gone through about 5 smart phones (they were way too fragile). Now I have some old blackberry looking thing that is a tank. I love not being sucked into the smartphone world.. At the same time, I do miss out on conveniences.. Had a relative visiting who mentioned her husband had been in a cycle accident.. of course I didn't know because my smart phone wasn't smart enough to see FB and I don't use FB much either (another dopamine release).
