Today I am starting a reboot for probably the 50th time in 3 years.  I am so disappointed that it is taking so long.  I saw some positive physical results last week only to sabotage it this week.  Does anyone have experience with this cycle?

Dear Secondhalf:

I have been trying the last 15 years or more to stop M. I never succeeded for more than a week.  I have the feeling I will be more focused and successful after I began talking to people with the same difficulties in this forum, as well as reducing my ignorance on the topic (seeing videos and reviewing the site). Thanks to this forum.  I can tell  you it is really hard. I am 52 years old and I am seeing light on the other side of the tunnel for the last 4 or 5 weeks.  All I can tell you is: work hard. Accept that it is difficult and join us in the group to talk about yours and our experience. It helps a lot.  You told in your message you already stopped more than 50 times in the last 3 years.  Congratulations ! You are a brave man and have obstination !  Day by day doing efforts to stop and meditating about the bad effects will work positively in your mind. Do not quail !!!  :)
Best regards.

Welcome SH.  You are in good company here.  I found it helpful to read through journals and see what others are going through.  Again, welcome!

Well, I think Einstein gets the credit for saying "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I think if you added a little more narrative on exactly What you've been doing as a reboot, the guys here can provide some really great experience lessons to help out.

Keeping a journal isn't just about documenting - this community has a great many people that share your struggle and can offer help.

Blue Bird,

Thanks for reaching out.  I honestly posted that last post a few months ago and for whatever reason got away from the sight....  I recently had some success with setting better parameters but still not out of the woods.  I have pmo'd 3x in past 2 months.  Better but not gone.  The good news is going through so much makes you a little stronger every time you come back from despair.  I am seeing a counselor again and have tremendous support from my fiance.  My issue with the counselor is that they want you to not feel so guilty and to masturbate without porn almost saying it is normal which I believe.  The problem is the issues and memory and neurological crap is still in my tissues.  I just think I have to stick to my guns and stay abstinent at least for now (no time frame) the 90 day thing is a good goal but everyone is different.  the counslor agrees that we are going to take it under my terms for now and talk out issue as to WHY I went tdown this path.  I started a journal and will post my counter soon.  Hope you are all well.
