Feel like I need a lot of help.

Hi guys, I've been trying to quit for years, with a modicum of success, but for the last few months I've been really struggling, and just can't find the motivation to beat the cravings.  I feel like I need to start afresh.  There are so many reasons for me to quit, and none for me to stay, but I just relapse every couple of days.  I need a fresh perspective or something.  Any advice for a guy like me?

Why do you relapse?  Do you just believe you always relapse so what's the difference?  Seems you've gotten used to just living a life of constant relapses to the point where relapsing is just a part of your life.  You probably don't even feel that bad when you relapse anymore, you just come to expect it.

You need to get more upset when you relapse.  You keep telling yourself you want to quit.  You see no benefits to continuing watchin porn, yet every few days you watch it.  What the fuck man?  How are these relapses helping you beat this?  They are not.  Get a grip dude.  You need to end them, get pissed off when you relapse!  Don't just go about your business.  Get angry at porn for having this control over you.  Porn owns you man.

Figure out the REASONS you gravitate towards porn, then eliminate them!  For example, are you just wathing porn because you're bored?!  Are you sad?  Whatever the reason may be, discover OTHER ALTERNATIVES to solve these problems... bordem doesn't mean go watch porn.. it means find something to fucking occupy your time... open up a book, learn a new skill, go work out, hang out with friends/family... play the guitar... ANYTHING YOU WANT.

It's not boredom, when I'm alone at the end of the day I usually feel cravings of varying intensity, and I find them hard to deal with.

That is boredom.  You are alone, with nothing to do.  That's called being bored.

Find things to occupy your time "at the end of a day".....sheesh.

I tend to agree with Pr3c1se. It might not be "active" boredom, if that concept even makes any sense, but it's the lack of distraction, a lack of purpose for the chunk of time you're living. That's always a great opening for cravings or temptations or whatver we want to call them. So minimizing this kind of situations certainly helps. You don't need Purpose, you know. Something trivial like watching a movie or playing a game is enough.

Good advice, you may be right.  I don't think boredom is the sole cause of all of my problems.  I'm generally a pretty busy fella, and I find the biggest risk is right before bed.  I often find myself feeling as though I can't sleep well because of a niggling feeling.

I think coming here, listening to music and maybe some YBOP content will help.  I'll keep coming back.
