When the guilt begins to fade after relapse.

Hey guys, I'm hoping to get a little bit of feedback about how we begin to feel less guilty about our most recent relapse, which then leads to us feeling like it is okay to PMO again.  The first 10 days or so after this last reboot have been easy because as soon as I would have urges I would remember how hardcore the last relapse was, and I would feel super guilty and disgusted.  Now when those thoughts pop in my head, my mind is trying to tell me that it's okay.  Any feedback advice is appreciated!

Start writing out some really forthright comments about how you feel (especially if you relapse), right after. Write out all the negatives, and only the negatives. Then when you think about relapsing, read it. Try to overwhelm the urge with the truth of what it will do and how it's never worth it. Make sure it's easy to read, so you can't hide from it. Don't get lost in your own justifying thoughts - it's so hard not to, so incredibly hard, so we need to use every trick we can conceive of to beat it. Remember, it's not worth it. You'll regret it. It will delay your goals. You'll feel guilty and disgusted. Think through each one carefully, and then say "so, is it really worth it?" Hopefully every time you will think, no, it's not. Because it isn't.

you could also write down all the positives of PMOing and relapsing.

try focusing on positive things you will get if you relapse. if you relapse, there is obviously something positive about it otherwise you would not do it. maybe you think it will end craving, or it will give you pleasure... whatever it is, focus on that and see how delusional that is. if you can see through it, its a switch that turns this very hard difficult game into easy one and when the cravings and withdrawal symptoms hit it can get up to medium difficulty but its never too hard. porn addiction can be walk in the park compared to how you now experience it. when you see that there is nothing positive about PMO, you lose all the reasons to give in to urges and therefore you just quit. it may take some time and repetition to bust those mythical stories about goodness of PMO, but when it all sinks in you will see what im talking about.

if you ignore all the hidden positives, urges will feel like fight within yourself. triggers will be all over the place. i know it from experience. it really feels like going AGAINST your own self. cravings can be uncomfortable by themselves, if you add additional discomfort it gets ugly.

i still surf the internet 00am-3am when everyone is asleep and that is the biggest trigger i had (every single day i PMOed during that time for almost a decade). now i come across suggestive material almost every night but im not even tempted to further explore it, i just go away from it without much hussle. this would be impossible and it is not recommended if you base your quitting on will power. will power does not work very well and you need to be very careful during reboot if your weapon is will power.

this is how i quit smoking. i read easy way to stop smoking by alen carr. he says nobody smokes cigarettes because of a lung cancer or heart attack. all the negative reason are even printed on every pack of cigarettes and smokers see it every day dozens of times. still they smoke, not because they will get throat cancer or their kid may be born prematurely, they smokes because they think it relaxes them, decrease boredoom, improves concentration, ends cravings etc.. . i busted those myths and im never tempted not even slightly to light another cigarette even during alcohol time, after big meal or whatever my biggest trigger used to be.

you can explore this and if you are smoker definitely read "easy way to stop smoking" by alen carr and maybe apply some principles to porn addiction  :D

Hey guys, thanks for the great replies.  I really like your ideas, and I will definitely try them out.  I'm really excited to have made it 2 weeks, and I believe that I will be able to make it through my reboot successfully this time.  Really great feedback!
