New Strategy: Reboot + NO alcohol !

What's up guys. I've been struggling with rebooting and decided it's time for a new strategy.

I've decided not to drink this month-- partly to save money, be healthier, but the main reason is that I know that if I can quit something somewhat unhealthy for a month, I can definitely reboot.

I think by March the benefits of this will feel awesome, both physically and socially.

Day 1 feels great. Feel free to join me and post your own progress.

Thanks risingagain. Day 2 feels good-- i guess its been awhile since I went out without drinking--the experience was way different for me. There will definitely be a tough period, especially with interacting with girls in bars, but I feel like I will learn a lot and really improve my interactions if I can do this for a  month ( not to mention the obvious health benefits). For me quitting drinking is a challenge cuz I've been going out drinking for almost the past 10 years, so by focusing on this I don't even think about other artificial stimulations... haha!
Anyone else want to try this challenge?

Sign me up! I just came across this NoFap stuff 2 weeks ago and have been trying it since then. I go partying and quite like to chat up girls.

I rarely drink alcohol during a night out. Mostly I get some kind of juice from a 24h shop during nights or get tap water in clubs ... saves money, too.

Awesome that you're doing this challenge, I'll be watching your thread for news.  :)

Shit, seems like I can learn something from you, Bobster. I feel like I started drinking years before getting still in the game, and thus it's become part of my identity when going out. I think I will definitely learn and improve through this. Good to hear someone else is into my idea.
Day 3 feels great. Brock Savage out!

Well sitting through a company party sober while everyone else was getting drunk wasn't fun.  And going out and socializing sober definitely feels like more or a challenge for me, but it's doable. Definitely feel healthier and more alert.
This challenge seems to be working, because it completely takes my focus away from porn.
Day 4, not bad so far.

Hey Freesoul,

Thanks for writing. Yes, day 6 went well. I feel healthier and more able to concentrate, calm my mind, and meditate. Yes, I'm trying to make it a habit as well. I will definitely get more done and  gain perspective/less clouded thoughts through not drinking during this reboot.

Thanks for the support,

Hey Brock,

Nice strategy! Count me in! I am going to add this to my reboot too.

I have tried this in the past. Yea, right, at first it can be awkward to stay sober when everybody else is getting drunk, but still it's doable. In my case, the main problem in the past was for me to remember my oath, 'coz many a times I simply forgot the plan. It's about staying alert and being in the present and making conscious choices and not going by known patterns. Doing that should certainly be confidence boost for the reboot too.

Cheers!

I agree 100%!  Welcome, glad you are giving this a try too. It's definitely a confidence booster and discipline booster. I really think alcoholism and porn are more similar than mostppl think, since they're both based on impulse while ignoring negative consequences.
It's been working really well for me so far. It is strange going out while everyone else is drinking, but it is interesting seeing things from the other side. Also the extra hours of sleep feel great.
Day 7

SHIT, back to day 1 tomorrow.
Didn't want to go out cuz it was cold, playing computer games at home, got bored, which led to you know what. . Computer games, another form of artificial stimulation, don't help at all and may even be a trigger. I deleted the game.

Shit, day 1 again. Really need this reboot+ no alcohol becasue I want to feel confident going out again next month.

Day 7 feeling good. Although I do find myslef seeking out more stimulation...good to keep busy and social as possible.

Hey Brock, what's up?

Been out for awhile, but it's good to see you're determined to no-alcohol.
Alcohol was never much a problem to me, and I'm also on a no-drinking period.
It's strongly advised for some peace of mind :)

Keep going!

Hey Leir, great to hear from you! Hope you're doing well. I restarted 2 weeks ago, this time with no drinking as an added challenge+ distraction.
It's a struggle sometimes but I do feel stronger every day.

I should admit though, not drinking for 2 weeks was pretty boring and there are benefits to drinking in moderation, especially red wine. So...I think I'll cut the non drinking part out and just stick to the reboot. Haha.
