What do you all think about hypnotherapy to help with Porn Addiction?

Hi all,

I searched but could not find the subject of hypnotherapy discussed so I wanted to ask you all for your thoughts about it. When I say hypnotherapy, I don't mind people getting hypnotized and barking or acting on command. I am talking about serious, one-to-one, professional hypnotherapy.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with PTSD after a shaky divorce and even after 3 years, he still had problems with ED and PA. One of the reasons was that his wife verbally humiliated him about not being able to satisfy her even when they were having sex regularly and this had shaken up his self-esteem. He started to see a psychologist 3 years after their divorce and he recommended a hypnotherapist who (supposedly) got him to get rid of his PA and therefore ED problem after 3 sessions.

I am just throwing this out there to see what you all think because while I began my reboot 17 days ago and am going strong without any relapses, but I am wondering if hypnotherapy has any real science behind it as some claim and can help us get over our addictions (not replace but help with rebooting).

Thanks for reading and I'd appreciate any response/thought you'd like to share.

Some people have found hypnotherapy to work with HABITS. Yes, viewing porn can be a habit, and it is a difficult one to get out of, but the main problem goes beyond this. You've conditioned your brain to enjoy dopamine hits when viewing unrealistic sex acts, so any real-life sex act appears less exciting, and leads to a floppy dick. This is more than just a habit.

So, even if hypnotherapy works, you still haven't solved the full problem. You would still need to reboot. Maybe hypnotherapy would help that feel easier, if you weren't fighting the habit too.
