Meditation.

So, as we should all know, like exercise, meditation also helps reverse porn induced hypofrontality. But how should we actually do it? There are multiple videos with instructions but to my understanding, it's just lying on a bed and focusing on each part of the body until all discomfort is gone - after focusing on breathing. I don't see how this alone helps reverse porn induced hypofrontality- Surely I'm not understanding something/ doing something wrong. I'm sure many people are uneducated in meditation, far more than exercise. Please help start a discussion/ sharing knowledge board to help aspiring Meditators.

I do meditation sitting on the floor cross legged and focus on my hearing.
Your ears should be like satellite dishes trying to pick up every single sound.

By really focusing on what you are hearing and what is going on around you, you don't have room to think. When a thought comes, just let it go and focus back on either your breath, hearing or the sensations in your body, like the weight of your legs and arms.

That's why I prefer to medidate outside, where I can focus on the noises coming from the trees, the wind, the birds etc...

There's a good vid on it by Rsd Tyler.

I teach meditation so hopefully I can help. Meditation can be done many different ways.  You can focus on sensations (what you hear, taste, smell) you can focus on a mantra or repeated saying (I am peace, I am calm, OM) or you can focus on breathing.  The main point is to still the mind of thoughts by concentrating on a particular thing.  There are also guided meditations which take you on journeys of learning about your subconscious or can be used for grounding your energy (which means settling your energy from your head to your base chakra) Usually those are facilitated by an instructor of some sort unless you know how to do it yourself.  I have a grounding meditation I do sometimes where I visualize a cord running from my spine to the centre of the earth.  There are many.

The way meditation works and why it is so powerful (scientifically speaking) is that when you still your mind of thoughts other areas of the brain become active.  You become more "aware" of things outside of the steady stream of thoughts.  The more you do it, the more mindful you can become which decreases hypofrontality.  People with ADHD (hypofrontality) have shown decreases in symptoms of 78% with regular meditation.  30% of the 78% decreased by 30% which is statistically significant.
